Well, all I can say is that I don't entirely agree with your post.

Maybe it's time for everyone to just let it go!

Yes, the newer fans won't remember but the ****/Rams was ALWAYS the huge rivalry in the old NFC West. Can't remember think it was Youngblood who told the story of how they used to get to the Coliseum early on gameday to get dressed and taped then go out and sit on the bench so when the **** bus pulled up they'd have to walk right past them to get to the visitor lockerroom ... which, I believe I heard was painted pink for awhile?
I actually thought Norton Jr. was the originator of this quote. But I totally agree with the OP that it is not something a Rams fan should utter because I HATED those 49er teams for that arrogance.

I'd love to hear what exactly you don't agree with.

To each his own Ferter, but two things that I will not let go are my hatred for the whiners and that phrase. Won't happen.

I really would like to hear his reasoning behind it. Same for any of the other posters here who like to use the phrase. I think I would gain some valuable insight into what goes on inside a demented mind.

Re: A History Lesson on a Most Hated Phrase

It's sort of a silly phrase considering the Rams have been consistantly good for most of the superbowl era. They were terrible in the 90s and the last 3 seasons but tons of NFL teams have had bad stretches.

And even if Marshall Faulk did say that phrase it doesn't make me stop being a fan of him. I don't approve of it but I don't think anything could make me stop liking Marshall Faulk. He could probably murder 5 people and he would still be my all time favorite player.

In the upper right corner of the post you want to rep there's an icon that looks like a pair of old-fashioned scales. Click there and follow the options.

I sure hate to hear it, but by gum I'll reserve my right to say it when it's reality.

And besides, by making the term taboo aren't you creating a weapon to use upon yourself? Kind of like the Knights that say..........

And we've been bad longer than the last three seasons.

Re: A History Lesson on a Most Hated Phrase

I am curious....I hate the Whiners but I live in Ca and have been Ram fan for looooong time. I have the pleasure of living in Whiner country and watched those banwagon"eers" all profess love back to Kezar stadium after the 1981 SB. I endured countless attacks on my beloved Rams throughout 80's and 90's. I do passionately dislike the Whiners and root for two teams each week. Rams and whomever the whiners are playing. I beleive anyone that was Ram fan from LA has the same strong negative feeling toward the Whiners. Do the St Louis era fans feel the same way?

    as an editorial note
I do agree in principle with the OP BUT I do have issue with anyone telling me what makes a fan vs not. My football choice is unwavering, personal and I celebrate and follow in the manner that is most comfortable to me and my poersonality. Validation or edicts from others do not hold much for me.

you know...there are some Whiners playters (player/haters) that I have a great amount of repect for (especially now that they've retired), like Joe Montana and Jerry Rice. However, Young has always been an arrogant Son-Of-a-gun. I have to leave the room when he's on TV. I just can't stand him.
That's my story, and I'm sticking to it!!

Re: A History Lesson on a Most Hated Phrase

Between Avenger liking this post 2 years later, and alleged Rams fans continual use of this phrase, I think this needs a bump.
