Holt leaves game after blow to head
Holt leaves game after blow to head
Associated Press
Rams wide receiver Torry Holt left in the first quarter of Sunday's game against Seattle after suffering a concussion when he took a blow to the head on a pass over the middle.
Holt took a strong hit from Terreal Bierria that separated him from the ball, resulting in an incompletion with 8:55 left in the first quarter.
He was down for about a minute before walking off the field, joking, laughing and high-fiving teammates.
But after consultation with team doctors, Holt stood on the sideline wearing a cap instead of a helmet.
At the time, the team said his return was questionable. But in the second half, it was announced he would not return to the game.
"The only thing he didn't have were the little birdies around his head," coach Mike Martz said after the game in confirming that Holt had suffered a concussion.
Holt entered the game as the Rams' second-leading receiver with 43 catches and five touchdowns, and he caught two passes for 32 yards before being hurt.
Pace ejected for making contact with ref

Rams offensive tackle Orlando Pace was ejected in the third quarter of Sunday's game against the Seahawks for making contact with an official.
Pace was kicked out with 5:11 to go in the period at the end of a play that ended up with a lost fumble by Marshall Faulk at midfield.
Replays appeared to show a Seattle player was pulling Pace off the pile when Pace ran into side judge Don Carlson.
Pace is a five-time Pro Bowl player. Right tackle Grant Williams moved to Pace's left tackle spot and Blaine Saipaia took over at right tackle, taking his first snaps of the season.
The Rams lost wide receiver Torry Holt in the first quarter to a head injury.
