Re: How bad do we need a WR now........
We do need to make some huge trades to get a good player in here. We finally know how to win, but now don't have players to win with. We need a receiver really bad

Devaney, if you care about this team... fire the offensive coordinator!!!!

Re: How bad do we need a WR now........
A true No.1 WR would make the rest of the receiving core look really good. Amendola and Avery in the slot and Clayton as the no.2.

Re: How bad do we need a WR now........
Well, now that Clayton went down, the butterfingers receivers are all we have left. Another TD; 43-6.

Re: How bad do we need a WR now........
YES definitely.
Whoever thinks otherwise has got to be obnoxiously blind.
However, I just wonder who are they going to target if that is the case. Vet free agent, or look at the draft. Whatever they do, they have to do something fast cause like you said, we will be in trouble because our offense is just scary.
With that said, the whole team effort was pathetic today...

Re: How bad do we need a WR now........
According to Chris mortenson Mike Sims-Walker could be available for a late round pick. He's definitely a guy on top of my list. I would also take a look at recently cut Devin Thomas. Hopefully Clayton's injury isn't bad.
I don't know what happened to Gibson and Robinson from last year, but both have definitely taken a big step back. Gibson had solid hands last year this year he can't catch a cold. Even when healthy Robinson has just been invisible all year. Amendola has played great in the slot, but can't be our go to guy.

We need a GOOD WR... RIGHT NOW. I mean Spags and company had better start making phone calls here in an hour or so.

Re: How bad do we need a WR now........
I think the people saying we were doing fine at WR with the aquisition of Mark Clayton were being ridiculously optimistic. With one injury, our pass offense is dead.
It is too late at this point and the front office is unwilling to do anything but make marginal trades with very low draft picks. Sorry guys, we are pretty much stuck with what we have. We might pick up a WR that another team cut, but we won't luck out again like we did with Clayton.
My outlook for this season just went from 8-8 to 3-13.

Re: How bad do we need a WR now........
Amendola was the only WR who can reliably catch the ball today. I wonder if a solid week of fundamental training is in store for the other WRs.

Re: How bad do we need a WR now........
Well, I know a certain receiver who will be able to help us in week 7... which would mean he would be playing in our three remaining divisional games and help us make a push for the playoffs.... PLAYOFFS!!?!?
Hopefully with Minnesota out of the running the Lord of No Rings will provide us with a reasonable trade. Not to mention his agents have said they will sign a backloaded contract so that his previous team will only receive late round compensation if he doesn't get traded.
Man who could I be talking about?
Where is DPSkywalker when ya need him?

Re: How bad do we need a WR now........
Will Y'All PLEASE stop this Vincent Jackson stuff, SD isn't trading him OK. He is NOT a good guy and is one DUI away from being suspended a season, and wants to be the highest paid WR in the NFL. You think it's WORTH a panic move that means he's OUR guy for the next 5 years, when we can draft one of the real STUDS coming ot this year???
STOP this nonsense. Devaney says it ain't happening, New England doesn't want him.
Are fans even HERE t his stupid. Might as well say "trade for Andre Johnson."Barry Waller

Re: How bad do we need a WR now........
While getting someone like VJax would help us this season, no doubt, it could also be good for NEXT season too. Who knows, it could even negate the need to draft high on a WR, giving us room to use that pick elsewhere. A WR corps of e.g. VJax, Avery, Clayton and Amendola looks strong, with decent backup in Gilyard, Robinson and Gibson.
Whoever, whatever...we clearly need to bring someone in if Clayton IS out for the majority of this season.Last edited by sonnyjames; -10-10-2010 at 05:44 PM.
