How bad was our offensive line play last year?

    Quinn Ojinnaka - T - Free Agent

Former Rams G/T Quinn Ojinnaka has embarked on a pro wrestling career under the nickname "Moose."
Ojinnaka had a tryout with the Saints just three months ago. But now he's listed on the Sept. 1 card in a pro wrestling even outside Atlanta. Ojinnaka appears to have moved on from the NFL.

He was so bad, it was unreal. He almost got Sam killed on a few plays. Some people said Sam has no more excuses, I say Sam needed better protection.

    Good luck Ojinnaka.

Other than Ojinnaka I thought our O-Line played pretty good.

Yeah they did considering what we had to work with but that said.

    Ojinnaka out of the NFL

Wayne Hunter still not picked up by any team even for a back up spot.

Barry Richardson signed with the Titans and is expected to be a backup.

Rob Turner is the best of this group, he is said to be in the mix with the Titans for a starting guard spot. One spot is locked down with Chance Warmack.

To your point laram0 once we got our starters back, Wells, Saffold as well as signing Joe Barksdale, Chris Williams and Shelley Smith the line played pretty well the second half of the season for sure.

With Long and Saffold at the tackles and Wells at center day one we should be much better then pretty good.

Hard to fault the new regime but I still don't get how Ojinnaka played in all four preseason games and then played in the first four games of the season after we cut him at the end of camp.

The same can be said for Steve Smith.

He did earlier in the year. He got it during the second half of the season, and the Rams have taken steps to continue to improve it this year by improving the personnel at both tackle spots (Long @ LT, Saffold shifts to RT). The Rams have quality starters at four of the five offensive line spots. They made a commitment to go out and get more weapons for the passing game at both receiver and tight end. There is continuity in the offensive system for the first time since Sam has been here.

I don't agree with the phrase "no more excuses" because I think it implies the previous shortcomings around Sam weren't real. They definitely were, and impacted his efficiency on the field. However, I think the days of Rams fans being able to claim a lack of talent around Bradford are coming to a close. This is probably the most talented offensive line the Rams have assembled in a decade, and without question the best receiving corps the Rams have put together in the last five years.

For the last couple of seasons, the argument has been, "Well if Sam only had better __________." Now he has it. Will he take off and become the player many of us believe he can be, or will he still leave something to be desired? My gut is on the former; if it ends up being the latter, it could be a long season and subsequent offseason.

I wish we resigned Turner. He was one of my favorite Rams o-lineman that has come through here in a while. IMO he is just as good a center as Scott Wells. He would have thrived playing beside Jake Long. Such a shame.

I agree with you, for me he has all any player needs to play at a very high level. I'm not even going to use the "these guys are young" if he struggles.

The Rams are finally going to have Bradford play in a system that he can thrive in. They have built the offense around him and his skill sets. He has a great defense too boot.

Here is where I'm at with Sam. If he struggles and plays just average. I would draft a QB next year and clearly send the message now or never you got one more year. If he breaks out and plays like he did in college, lighting up score boards. I would extend him and try and get some value before he gets a 100 million plus contract.

I think he has a really big year, there's just too many guys that can and will make plays for him.

That's why we replaced him with Barrett Jones.

Optimally we should have Turner AND Jones in the starting line-up.

Yea that'd be better though since Harvey Dahl is getting there with his age and recent injuries.

Re: How bad was our offensive line play last year?

Even with a solid o-line, which last season was hit or miss, the Rams didn't have too many targets for Sam to throw to beat the pressure. However for reasons I can't explain the O-line did better against the 49whinners, Seagulls, and Cards. Granted the Rams see those teams twice a year, but I saw a lot more motivation in those games
