Stacking up the box with our secondary is suicide. The line needs to get on the same page and get pressure. If the four up front can do that then it will force double teaming and then we can shoot some blitzes in on Smith and its over.

It's not about getting pressure, it's about stoping the run.

I think its more of a big IF myself, any line with Little and Glover should be capable of producing some push and pressure. Also, another way I look at it is if we have to stack the box to get to the QB or stop the run then I don't foresee playoffs or the Super Bowl.

It's called a 4-6 D and a few teams like the 85' Bears were very successful running it. This D needs to be more balanced.

They kind of go hand in hand. You get pressure or push then there are no holes to run through, you don't then you get gashed for 100+ yards.

I see your point Mike, but part of the problem the D has is that they get too much of a push up field, thus alowing the RB to get through. They need to stay in the gaps and string the play out.

Which is easier said than done. That's been the knock on Little. He's so quick that he over runs plays/gaps.

We have to sellout to stop the run and take some risks. Trying to play things straight up with our defense hasn't worked, so we have nothing to lose. Gore is too good of a back to not key on, so it's stack the box and take our chances with Smith.

Yep, that's why they need to move the safties or at least one of them up to force the **** to think about it.

I'll be shocked if this isn't exactly what Haslett does.

Eaxctly, I would rather sellout to stop the run and get beat by Smith, than sit back and watch Gore run all over us and get beat.

Re: How do we stop the run?

I agree with the consensus on this one, get more guys in the box and make them pass. The 4- 3 is getting gashed for easy yards. Tino is playing hurt and it shows, Spoon is great, he might be a bit on the light side, canít shed the blocks. We need to just bring everyone down and make the Whiners pass.

I would not mind not getting one sack and giving up some passing yards, but we cannot give up 150+ on the ground.:x :x :x
