How do you rate the Rams' draft?
What's your overall view?
Welcome to the St. Louis Rams!

Re: How do you rate the Rams' draft?
I gave the Rams a B.
I think they targeted the right positions, and got some very talented prospects. I would have liked them to have drafted a pass rushing DE somewhere in the mid rounds, and a backup RB/KR as well.
Welcome to the St. Louis Rams!

Re: How do you rate the Rams' draft?
post draftday is a lotterry for me, as not one player hs touched the ball, but i find it hard not to go with a B as we went for so many need areas. If the guys on our d line step up, and barron plays well, and even just one of the db bunch becomes a solid starter, then it will be a sucessful draft in my eyes and we will pla well next year.

Re: How do you rate the Rams' draft?
A solid B...
I have some questions...
Bartell - may have been a reach - with our #2 pick.
Incognito - has not played in a year.
Collins - was he ever a tight end??
Hedge....(the full back) - is he a defensive end?? or a _____?
I like the apparent level of athleticism -of all of the above, but we will have to wait and see.
The Barron, OJ and the remainder of the picks look fine at this point.
OVERALL - I LIKE IT!!!!!

Re: How do you rate the Rams' draft?
I gave it a B+. Just as with Kennedy and Jackson, the top player at a position fell for some reason and we were there to pick him up. If Barron can show why he was the top rated OL to start with, we will have our bookends.
I like the Bartell pick. He's a big, physical DB that can cover. Unless the jump in competition is too much for him, I think he can contribute early and often.
And I just knew there's no way Martz would finish this draft w/o Fitzpatrick. That's the one thing I got right in this draft (of course we won't mention the 40 million things I didn't get right on this draft).
The only negative I see is trading up to get Collins?!?! Honestly, we could have had him as a UFA if we wanted him. And what on earth possessed the FO to trade up to get him?!?!
Other than that, I like this draft."Before the gates of excellence the high gods have placed sweat; long is the road thereto and rough and steep at first; but when the heights are reached, then there is ease, though grievously hard in the winning." --- Hesiod

Re: How do you rate the Rams' draft?
I gave it an A mainly because we got Barron and didnt have to trade up to get him. Also, we got Incognito who will mature and become a starter early-mid season. I like the DBs we selected and our defense should improve some, not great, but it's a start. Coakley will be the leader and fire up those youngsters. Clairborne will be happy to go back to his original spot, MLB, and take care of the middle (one of our biggest weaknesses). Anyway, I look forward to this coming season with Bulger going over 4,000 and 30 TDs and Jackson going over 1,200 yards. We will be one of the top offensive teams in the league and the defense will be decent. Still good enough to reach to the SB!

Re: How do you rate the Rams' draft?
I thought this was a successful draft for us. I just needed to hear that we got either Brown or Barron with our 1st pick to get us started on the right foot. When I heard we got Barron it felt like we had hit a home run! I choose to believe that the original consenus that he was the top rated OT in the draft makes him a great pickup no matter what they are saying now. He is what we needed most...a great addition for us!
After that, I wanted alot of depth and competion for our secondary...and we got it. I'm not familiar with our picks, but, I have faith in our scouting team. From what you guys have been saying it sounds like we may have some good talent there. Not to mention the improvement these guys should bring to special teams.
I was pleased that we got some OL depth. Terrell should be a force to be reconned with and it sounds like we have a wildcard in Incognito that could be a great pickup. Not to mention the punter and QB picks.
All in all a solid draft that fills alot of needs for us. Combine that with our FA pickups and I'd call this one of our more successful offseasons in a long time.
People...we've got something to be excited about in 2005!
Go Rams!!! :ramlogo:Last edited by viper; -04-27-2005 at 12:20 PM.

Re: How do you rate the Rams' draft?
Gotta give a B. I think they did a good job of filling in some holes, and maybe even secured our future for the next few years.
