Re: How is the lockout impacting your mood?

I, for one, am trying to stay focused on the draft, but I am missing FA.

In terms of the "pulse" of fans in general, my impressions are:

    1. The majority of fans start from the standpoint of wanting to be on the players' side, but the NFLPA's tactics are making it very difficult to stay in their camp.

    2. Whatever skills as a strategist and negotiator DeMaurice Smith might possess, he is absolutely horrible at the PR game. He comes accross as angry and arrogant, and far too often overstates his side's position.

    3. Fans don't like "dirty pool." They didn't like the idea that the owners could get $4B in TV money during a lockout, and they don't like the tactic of "decertifying" the union.

    4. More than anything, fans want this resolved. Most don't really care how, or who gets what, or who declares victory. Nobody in the league is suffering, so they should just work it out, shut up and play.

I wanted to vote for the first one and the last one, but I've definitely noticed a decreased interest in football. I'm also a baseball fan, and the season is about to start. Knowing that absolutely nothing is going to happen between now and draft day..and then after that even more nothing..It really just kinda dampers my interest knowing I could come back one day before the draft and not miss a thing.

    Wheres the Denial option?

Nfl is still alive at my house through madden, espn 2k5, and nfl tour. So I would say it has put me in denial that anything bad is happening.

I'm just angry. This is the part of the year when I am charting FA and player moves to prepare for the NFL season. Not only can I not do that, but I can't even look forward to what should end up being an emergence year for my favorite team because we may not even have football. All I feel is anger towards both sides and a desire to see the deal done.

Im not going to lie,its really killing my mood. All the uncertainty with the season has really brought down my mood and overall desire for this offseason. And its sad because if this wasnt going on and we had a CBA and this offseason went as normal we could really be making moves to improve our team to true playoff caliber level. But instead our players and coaches cant even talk let alone train,a young team like us needs all the time to mature especially with a new OC.....i hate this.

With the Exception of FA that I was looking foward to us picking up 2-3 team contributors at least it hasnt impacted me much since the draft is around the corner... now that being said after the draft, it will start to wear down on me and I'm sure many others as well. By the time July-August comes by i will be livid if no deal is done.

Since I heard the rumor that the owners are planning to play the season with all-female bikini teams, I'm actually looking forward to a prolonged lockout.

Seriously though, no FA sucks. No intelligent/realistic fun playing armchair GM without knowing what holes will be created or could be filled in FA & adjusting your draft prospect fav list accordingly.

I would be up for that. Heck show a ppv of a uncensored match and they could make 9 billion just from that.

And then the women will form a Players Union and start complaining about the money they make based on how they're unable to get the chunk of profits the owners make, pretty different situation huh?

And lemme guess? The value of women playing in the market will be based on their athleticism and the sexual appealingness of their body. Heck they can make even more dough than pornstars.

For me, no big deal right now although was very interested in seeing where new ownership took the FA deals. Frankly, they all make too much money and mostly from us, the ever loving fan. But, baseball is here and that will help me since I am a big fan there too! I would not be surprised to see this last into the summer thereby affecting length of season this year.

I don't feel too affected but I just can't wait for this to get to the courts and have it figured out. I am really looking forward to the draft even though it feels like it is taking forever to come. I don't see how they couldn't split up the money to be relatively fair for both sides. I get it you don't want to pay rookies too much and you too figure out the schedule length which they did (at least for the schedule as far as I know.) but not being able to split up some cash and have some sort of retirement fund seems like it shouldn't be as big of a problem and take so long as it has.

Re: How is the lockout impacting your mood?

Yesterday morning (Tue. 22) I saw on NFLN a bit of what appeared to be a live news conference by Commissioner Goodell but I heard little of his remarks and the Q&A section.

Combining my optimism and my ignorance on the complexity of the ongoing debates, the Commish seemed to me as having a hopeful, even positive outlook on solutions that will soon yield a full NFL season. It seems he wants to "give the fans what they want" and that progress is being made in that direction via less litigation.

My vote on this poll yesterday: It hasn't had a big impact yet, but it will more and more as time goes on.

I picked the second option. Still confident their will be a season but I do not like the change with free agency and hate the uncertainty all round. I miss the rumor mill and whispers doing the rounds at this point usually.
