    Here's my list:

    QB: Sam Bradford - obviously.
RB: Steven Jackson - he needs help, and his time is winding down, but I still want him in the starting lineup in 2011.
LT: Rodger Saffold - future is bright.
RT: Jason Smith - he might never live up to his draft status, but he is a solid RT who I believe will continue to improve.
C: Jason Brown - didn't have his best season in 2010, but should bounce back with better OGs around him.

DE: Chris Long - the "Howie's son" thing is becoming a mere footnote.
DE: James Hall - a long term replacement will be needed, but he earned this spot for at least one more year.
DT: Fred Robbins - great FA signing.
MLB: James Laurinaitis - the heart of the defense.
CB: Ron Bartell - its unfortunate how many Rams fans fail to see just how good he is.
CB: Brad Fletcher - one of the truly great stories for the Rams in 2010.
FS: O.J. Atogwe - he must truly be looking forward to a healthy offseason after spending most of last Spring rehabbing injuries.

So, for me, that's 12 of 22 who, in my mind, are secure.

I put the remaining 10 starters in the following categories:

Adequate, but could use an upgrade: OG Jacob Bell, DT Gary Gibson, SLB Na'il Diggs, FB Brit Miller.

Should be depth player (at best), not starter: OG Adam Goldberg, TE Daniel Fells (Note: I think we already have his replacement in Michael Hoomanawanui), WR Danny Amendola, WR Brandon Gibson, SS Craig Dahl, WLB David Vobora.
How could you leave Goldberg off the starters list? This message was typed in sarcasm font btw.

Re: How many current starters would you return on opening day 2011?

    QB: Bradford
    RB: Steven
    FB: Karney
WR: Clayton, Avery, Amendola, Alexander (not all starters, but those are the 4 guys that I definitely want in the rotation next year)
TE: Fells (and Hoom' and Bajema as back-ups, I loved the Tight Ends this year)
OT: Rodger Saffold (good pass blocker, needs to work on run blocking) and Jason Smith (good run blocker, needs to work on pass blocking)
C: Jason Brown (wasn't as bad as people think this year. Mostly the interior problems came from the guards.
DE: Chris Long and James Hall
    DT: Fred Robbins
    OLB: James Laurinaitis
CB: Ron Bartell and Bradley Fletcher
    FS: Oshiomogho Atogwe
    SS: Craig Dahl

Main issue is getting new offensive guards at both spots. I'd love to let Goldberg go (he's an unrestricted FA), and get two guys either through the draft or FA. I'd like to have a battle between two new guys and Jacob Bell for the two guard positions.

For another DT, Gibson is fine if we can't get anybody else, but I think he's a UFA also. There are a lot of other positions we need to tackle before finding the other DT. OLB is our most dire need right now. Also, we might want to add a receiver or two through the draft or FA so that we're not leaning on three guys who have had major knee surgery recently.

Re: How many current starters would you return on opening day 2011?

I came up with virtually the same list you did (for starters), except I put Bradley Fletcher in the 'adequate, but could use an upgrade' ranking. I know it might be unfair since this was technically his first full-season, but I think if we can draft a shut-down corner we might as well. We can never have too many good CBs...plus that would mean we could have Fletcher and Murphy/King shutting down opponents 3/4 receivers which would be awesome.

EDIT: I think I might add Hoomanawanui as a starter...he definitely showed he could do it, we just need him to stay healthy!

And I would say our biggest needs in order are...

    1. #1 WR - speedy, good hands
    2a. OLB
    2b. OG
    3. #2 RB - speedy, change of pace
    4. DT
    5. SS
    6. DE
    7. CB
    8. TE

Amendola is one of the best players on this team. I don't wanna talk about should or could. I can't wait for free agency and 2011 draft.

    I agree with Avenger's list.

I think Bartell is good, but at the same time his just being a "statistically elite corner" is tiring.

Sometimes I get sick of having good starters, too.

Everything BUT his hands are considered elite material.

I think he surgically replaced his hands with bricks.

A good list and a solid core. A few more pieces and we can cease being the butt of jokes.
