I think that 5 wins would show real progress, anything over 7 would be exceptional.

Re: How many wins would you be happy with in 2010

I understand the level of pessimism but I don't share it. With better health and a few key mistakes avoided here and there, I think this team was capable of 3-4 wins this year.

Another off-season of working together in the same system, utilizing the experience they gained, and a decent group of acquisitions to bolster the depth's resistance to injury-related dysfunction & I see the possibility of at least a .500 season for The Rams.

A rash of injuries to both first & second stringers at key spots could derail the thing, of course, but that's true for any team.

The depth of the team is already much improved, imo. That is reflected in the STs performance where the baseline strength of the roster is tested, imo. The Rams jumped from 21st to 8th in punt returns and from 22nd to 11th in KO returns.

Until the last game, AKA The Massacre at Whiner Creek, sacks were down a bit, too, & the run D improved from 4.9 yds allowed per carry to 4.4. That half a yard may not seem like much but another foot n' a half & we're in the top ten.

Lots of good things need to happen for these incremental improvements to translate into wins, for sure, and some bad things, particularly for our NFCW rivals, but the glass is half full in my eyes & on the way to filling up & DeSpags seem capable of keeping it from spilling due to preventable jolts.

Another reason for optimism-tempered with the obvious caveat that every team will be doing their damnedest to improve as well-is the schedule. We got reamed this year. Our division champ was in the SB last year & we played the SB winner and 3 other playoff teams plus another bunch of teams that finished '08 at .500 or better.

In 2010, The Rams play only 3 playoff teams from '09 and have a lovely chunk of bottomfeeders based on this year's performance.

If this CBA chaos doesn't retard the rebuilding process too much & we get back to a normal level of injury depletion, I think good things are in store.

I don't start measuring a rebuild with a new coach by the wins and loses until the 3rd year. But that is just me.

However... I would really like 5 or 6 wins.

Respect your opinion, but couldn't disagree more. No way I can tolerate another lousy (1,2,3 wins) season under the guise of "improvement". I'm not interested in the words "potential", "rebuilding", "patience", "staying the course" or "promise". I want RESULTS and PRODUCTION.

Anything less than 5 wins will be unacceptable- and even THAT is setting the bar low.

I would think 6 wins is a good start, pretty sad when 6 wins in a season would make us happy.

I would be happy with 16 wins. I would be happy with a lower number but you didn't ask for the lowest total I'd be happy with.

I won't be happy with less than 8 wins.....

That being said, I don't expect it. However, I see a lot of people that will be happy w/ 4 wins. But let's face it, this season, only 3 teams had less than 4 wins: Us (1) Detroit (2) and Tampa Bay (3). Is anyone truly going to be happy with the Rams being the third from the bottom in the entire NFL?

Instead, let's focus on what WILL make me happy next season.
    1. End the QB debate. I don't care who takes the snaps at this point, just want someone who will put an end to it.
    2. Finish the season on the positive side of the turnover game.
    2. Beat the whiners.

0 : Throwing things around the room. Extremely ticked.
1-2 : Very disappointed at this team and at the management.
3-5 : Not happy, not sad.
    6-8 : Pretty pleased.
    9-12 : Very surprised.
13+ : Jumping up and down, buying new cars for every ClanRam member.

Anything less than 6 would be unacceptable in the second year here after all of the changes. Just my opinion.

Re: How many wins would you be happy with in 2010

I won't be "happy" about anything less than a playoff appearance.

Look, this team has suffered with a dozen or more players on IR three years in a row. That is insane. I think if they can just keep this team healthy as is, they can win 5-6 games. Throw in a good draft, one or two good FA's, and weak 2010 schedule, a new stadium in a new city, why can't this team win 8+?
