How many yards will Marc Bulger rack up this year???

Marc Bulger has new weapons this season. Many have potential, but they have not proven anything yet.

I believe our quarterback will reach the lower 3000 mark in yards. He was close last year who is not to think that it wont happen this year? I want to hear your opinions. Please also post your predictions of amounts of TDs vs INTs. Thank You

Ill put 16 TDs and 10 INTs

I'm guessing just short of 3000. He's got some inexperienced recievers, and with a coach wanting to feature Jackson, I can live with 2999.

    I'll say 18 TD's, 9 INT's.

Re: How many yards will Marc Bulger rack up this year???

I don't understand where anybody got the idea that we're going to throw about 25 times a game and Bulger will barely get 3000 yards ...

Ouch, barely 3000 yards, 16 TD, and 10 INT???? We'll average about 18-19 PPG ....

This is going to be some sort of hybrid WCO offense. There's going to be plenty of throwing the skin around. Albeit, quite a bit of these throws will be swings and dump offs to running backs, but I would absolutely not be shocked if Bulger puts it up 500-550 times, assuming he is healthy all season ...

If Bulger barely throws for 3000 yards, we aren't going to win anything. Given that you are looking at 6.8-7.2 YPA in this type of offense, that either means he only threw it about 430 times, or he's completing a very low percentage ....

Think about it, if Bulger throws for 3000 yards, and we rush for 2000 yards (which may be a stretch), that still puts us at a very paltry 312 YPG of offense, not counting sacks. Assume 2 sacks a game, that puts us under 300 yards total offense, and we're staring at about 3-13, or worse ....

IMO, Bulger murders people with this offense, and he'll have to. We need numbers like something below to stand a fighting chance of being in the mix ...

    330-514, 64.2%, 3597 yards, 21 TD, 9 INT (if he plays 16)

I'd say between 3200 and 3700 yards passing, -250 to -300 yards rushing.

Re: How many yards will Marc Bulger rack up this year???

I voted for just a bit less than 3000, but mostly because I think he will likely miss a couple of games or at least be so banged up that he cannot play effectively. I agree that if he does play all 16 games with no major health issues less than 3000 yards is a pessimistic figure. But I just don't see our O-line improving enough to protect him as well as he needs to stay healthy all year. A West Coast offense will likely help him stay healthy by focusing on shorter, quicker routes and the running game, but I still doubt he will make it through the season unscathed. If I was convinced he would stay healthy all year I would have guessed at a few hundred yards above 3000, something like 3300 or so.

lol. I know you can in college, because whenever a QB gets sacked it counts as negative yards rushing.

I'm going to say Bulger gets just over 3,000 yards passing. I'm hoping that will because we will have a bigger emphasis on the running game, and it will be effective.

Before I vote, I'll have to see how the Rams OL will set up their OL and HOPE that they will indeed improve. Ram of Denmark has me a little concerned. ...Make that quite concerned:

...I just don't see our O-line improving enough to protect him as well as he needs to stay healthy all year.
We all know that Bulger's numbers will directly result from our OL's performance / protection.

I don't think he'll have a spectacular statistical season, but solid. 3200 yards passing, 17 TDs, 11 INTs.

    S-Jax carries the load.

Re: How many yards will Marc Bulger rack up this year???

What about those games where defenses stack 8 or 9 in the box? Bulger will have to throw for 300-350 yards to win those games. There are going to be several of them ...

I think Bulger is going to have a good season this year. With a health OL, I see Bulger back to being Pro bowl caliber QB. I don't see him racking up a ton of years, because I think we are going to run the ball allot this season.

Exactly what I was thinking. Around 3200 yds 18 TD's 9 Int's This is going to be a run heavy offense IMO.

Re: How many yards will Marc Bulger rack up this year???

Now obviously he's not McNabb, but lets just look at his stats from the last couple years since he's been running the offense that we're switching to. In my opinion, with our run heavy version of the offense, over 16 games we'll probably throw it between 450 and 500 times, so lets take the averages and see what comes out.

    McNabb:
Year G Comp Att C% Yards YPA TD INT
    2008 16 345 571 60.4 3916 6.9 23 11
    2007 14 291 473 61.5 3324 7.0 19 7
    2006 10 180 316 57.0 2647 8.4 18 6

    McBulger:
Year G Comp Att C% Yards YPA TD INT
    2009 16 283 475 59.6 3515 7.4 23 11

I just stole McNabb's only 16 game season for the TD/INT stats, but otherwise if we throw it 475 times, look for a 60% completion rate and between 7 and 7.4 yards per attempt, proving out to be between 3300 and 3500 yards. Not to bad in my opinion. Solid matchup play for fantasy.
