How well is the defense playing?
Very well! There are some issues with depth for certain, and fatigue as games wear on. And of course the inability to catch INT's, but lets take a look:
330.3 YPG - 15th in NFL
221.9 Passing YPG - 18th in NFL
108.1 Rushing YPG - 16th in NFL
18.7 PPG - 8th in NFL
Points Allowed by game - 17, 16, 14, 3, 44, 17, 18 <---- This is damn impressive minus the hiccup in Detroit. Ridiculously impressive actually.
33.7% 3rd down conversions - 5th in NFL
57.4% Completion Percentage - 9th in NFL
6.6 YPA - 8th in NFL
20 Sacks - 6th in NFL
33 Passes Defensed - 9th in NFL
14 Forced Fumbles - 2nd in NFL
79.6 Passer Rating Against - 13th in NFL (Each dropped INT would lower the rating 1.6 points)

The defense is far and away exeeding any expectations I had. All they have done (with the exception of the aberration in Detroit) is keep this team in games with a chance to win.
The offense, with it's inability to produce in the second half of games is putting way too much of a burden on the defense. They can only stem the tide for so long, as in the Tampa game. It's too bad most will only remember the one TD they gave up after 59 minutes of keeping the endzone free of Bucs.

Yeah But!!!!
Where do we rank as a scoring defense. If the offense can't light up the scoreboard than the defense needs to help!

While we're talking defense, I want to give a shout out to Bartell, guys got alot of heart. Bruised quad and bum shoulder and he comes out and defends that pass late in the game. Showed me alot about how bad he wanted to win!

And this is why I stated on the other thread he is one of my favorite Rams. I feel for the guy and hope he has a breakout season the rest of the way.
