We certainly have some interesting characters here. We're going to have to get some hints or something because these are for the most part a stab in the dark. The ones I can make an educated guess on are #12, which would be maineram because of his picture in the gallery holding a whopper, and #10 which would be psycho because of what he said in the "automotive" thread and the fact that I believe he lives up to his user name. LOL

I must admit that I am lousy with names, so I am not sure of the user, but #2 was a RAMPager. Bulldog comes to mind, but I am also thinking it was someone that's not from that area, and had either visited the area for the bet or had someone make it for him. Alex?

I'm gonna guess #3 because only an Avenger would help a deprived citizen.

In 1988, I was studying at the University of London's Westfield College. I went on a group trip to the Soviet Union. One of the purposes of the trip was to "smuggle" items to families of "Refusniks" - Jews who were subjected to religious persecution and refused exit visas, making them virtual captives in the Soviet Union. As my visit was right before Passover, I smuggled various items - matzos, prayer books, Kosher wine - to my assigned family, claiming to airport customs agents that they were for personal use. Also, having been told that the family had a teenage daughter, I also brought copies of U2's "The Joshua Tree" and Bruce Springstein's "Born in the USA."
Pursuant to my instructions, I took a circuitous route to the family's apartment (literally on the unlikely, but not unheard of, chance that I was being watched by a KGB agent). While the gifts were greatly appreciated, the thing I brought that made the parents the happiest was a bit of information. It seems that they were finally near getting out, and were planning to move to California. They were concerned about their daughter's college education, and when I told them that not only was there a State University system that allowed students to attend college at a very reasonable price, but that California had some of the best State Universities in the U.S. That nearly brought tears to the parents eyes, and still nearly does the same for me every time I tell the story.
