This hurts just as bad as

when Isaac Bruce left. I am a die hard Ram fan til the end and I will be a Falcons fan until Sj39 retires. Good luck SJ39. I'll miss you.

The thing that worries me, is that IF Sjax wins a SB with the Falcons, people will know him as a Falcon and forget about the Rams.

Re: This hurts just as bad as

The good news is that if he wins a sb with the falcons, it will enhance dramatically his chances of getting into the HOF and getting the recognition he finally deserves. Ram fans will always love and appreciate the big boy. He goes down as one of the all time great Rams. However, sportwriters in general will get a lot more familiar with him when he excels in a winning environment and that factor, plus greater public awareness, will help from a HOF perspective. He deserves the recognition, and if he has a couple of more big years, the numbers will be there career wise and playoff attention will put him over the top HOF wise.

One of my all-time favorite Rams. Goodbye SJ, hope to have you back soon retiring here like Holt and Bruce.

I was quite happy to hear that Atlanta was going after him, because if there's another NFC team that I'd like to see get a Super Bowl, it's certainly Atlanta with Jax. I just like their style of play(they kind of remind me of the GSOT, in a poor man's kind of way) and think that their owner is pretty classy. Now I think they've greatly balanced their offense with Jax and hope we see them on the other side of the bracket come playoff time.

For me, Bruce hurt far more.

I'm happy for SJax, and I'm excited to see the new Rams offense.

Hurts extremely badly. But it's alright. I like Atlanta pretty well. They are my brother's team. I just wish he was still going to be suiting up in blue and gold.

Bruce's departure was tougher. Hurt like hell. Especially considering the team who will not be named that he signed with.

    Personally, I don't really care.

Nowadays players have no team loyalty. Not like they did in the days of Merlin Olsen or Jack Youngblood.

So, I just don't care much when they decide to leave for what they consider greener pastures.

Happy Trails Mr. Jackson - Thanks for the memories!

Re: This hurts just as bad as

In the old era I grew up in, losing a favorite player to another team that had been with "my" team for many years would have been rough. Of course, in the "old" days many players in many sports played out entire careers on one team.

But not in today's sporting world. It's all about the money, feeding the ego and the bottomline. Players today are just assets to the company. Jackson and Amendola going to another team doesn't bother me at all. They are both now just another player on another team. I don't wish them luck, good or bad. I just hope the next "asset" does the job better.

Welcome to free agency. That said, Steven has shown that he is loyal to the Rams and that he will be a Ram for life. He's never once complained about how bad the team is, held out, or demanded more money. He's always been the driving force and lifeblood of the Rams for the last six years. Now, he quietly asked to be allowed to move on to a contender who will use him as a workhorse. He knew that he would be in a timeshare going forward in St. Louis and instead of *****ing, he did his work, got another 1,000 yard season and is now quietly leaving.

What I loved to hear was that he wants to be back in a few years when he's done. He wants to retire a Ram. He will be a Ram for life, and I'm glad that both sides of this acted like adults and came to a mutual agreement.

Agree 100 %. It's also fairly uncommon for teams to have much loyalty towards players. Probably what I miss most from the "old" NFL, before it became the huge business it is today.

I hope Jackson makes it to the Hall of fame, but I will not be rooting for him to do well on Sundays. I have always hated the Falcons and always will because they used to be a division rival. Same reason I will always hate the Saints, Seahawks and the Whiners. (I admit I have a soft spot for the Cards because Warner ended his career there).

When Steven Jackson signed with the Falcons, Stan Kroenke made a statement in regards to Steven Jackson, google it and you can find his quote word for word. How many owners do that for their players? Talk about loyalty.
