Now, he quietly asked to be allowed to move on to a contender who will use him as a workhorse. He knew that he would be in a timeshare going forward in St. Louis and instead of *****ing, he did his work, got another 1,000 yard season and is now quietly leaving.

What I loved to hear was that he wants to be back in a few years when he's done. He wants to retire a Ram. He will be a Ram for life, and I'm glad that both sides of this acted like adults and came to a mutual agreement.
I think he was a great team leader while he was here. He was loyal to that leadership and the team while they used him in the manner which he expected. To me, loyalty is tested when things change from ones expectations.

Steven did holdout, asking for more money, during the preseason of 2008. Now he was worth more money at that time, in my opinion, nonetheless he did holdout.

There was not going to be a bad guy in this breakup. That was obvious from the get go. Both sides acted with professionalism which is not to be mistaken for loyalism. Once again, should we expect anything less?

I'm not upset by him leaving. He left on HIS terms, he wasn't cut, outplayed, or ran out of town. From what I've read, we offered to let him stay to be part of a running-back-by-committee program. He wants to be a 3 down back.

There weren't any hard feelings from either side. I hope he does well with ATL. I'll bet he comes back to STL someday, even if it's a 1 day contract to retire.

If I could, I would "Like" this post two or three times.

As much as I liked DA, and I almost bought a DA jersey at the BASH, I hope he has no better time staying on the field in a cheater's jersey than he did as a RAMS. I DEFINITELY know he will get more PI and defenseless receiver calls than he got in St. Louis.

Man, this hurts - seeing our two most productive players from the past few years leaving.

Yea I agree. Bruce was my alltime favorite ram. Going to the niners killed me.

I like the Falcons myself, although im a fan of a few teams, for the last 5-6 years i'd rank them in order, Rams, Ravens, Falcons. And if im honest, reasons i like the Ravens and Falcons alot (got my reebok Flacco Jersey (home & away), im a fan of the front offices and the team cultures. Something i hope the Rams have finally found.

My thoughts exactly. I feel for the guy after spending a decade in St. Louis and never getting to make a run in the play-offs. If he and Danny had both defected to New England and then won a title there, Rams fans might have been at the point of taking up arms and marching on Boston.

When he is done with the Falcons, I hope we can at least re sign him to a 1 day contract so he can retire as a Ram.
