HYPOTHETICAL: IF we traded Holt, what should we get?

Now that the rumor has been thoroughly debunked, let's start a thread that discusses the hypothetical situation of trading Holt. In fact, if you want it can evolve into other big names (Bulger, Jackson, Pace) if you like.

Hypothetical Happy-land is now open. Have fun.

Unless some team wants to make an absurdly lop-sided (in our favor) trade, I say Holt is not on the block.

I'd say trade him to anyone who needs a possession WR to potentially put them over the top for the next year if they are willing to part with a secondary player and a #1 pick. This Rams team isn't going anywhere in 2008, but with the youth movement of late, a resigned Steven Jackson, a WR with speed AND hands, a revamped O line that is in the works, and a Front 7 that with 2 more solid additions and a year under their belt, 2009 is looking very promising.

Tx I am not ready to give up on '08..

Alot of fans feel the same way and want the Rams to go into rebuilding mode. I do not believe we need to do much more for this team to turn L's into W's....

    Is it possible.......

Adam C has a very successfull 2nd year

    F. Brown, Bartell, and Hill have career years

Witherspoon with the help in the middle becomes that dominate MLB

Pisa stays healthy and has his best year

    OJ continues to get better

The DE the Rams draft and Little play very well in fact Little double team decreases and it frees him up more frequently

Thats the D side alone what if on the O side....

    S. Jackson rushes for over 2K

The line is revamped and with the running threat Bulger is back and better than ever....

    Holt and Bennett play great....

    R. McMicheal is used frequently and dominates the middle...

If the Rams can avoid some major injuries I do not see why they can not compete for the division and or a championship

Dom, I seriously dig the optimism.......but that list IS much more.

Re: HYPOTHETICAL: IF we traded Holt, what should we get?

As AvengerRam said, it would have to be lopsided trade. Our team NEEDS Holt, he is our ONLY proven WR as of right now (Drew Bennett was good with the Titans, but needs to prove himself here now), and he fits in with the offense perfectly.
Other teams would love to have him, no doubt, but would he be as much of an asset to them as he is, and has been, to us?
I think it would have to be a 1st round pick and a very good defensive player at the least.

Re: HYPOTHETICAL: IF we traded Holt, what should we get?

But that is EXACTLY the point Keenum. Lito and a #1 is a very good defensive player and a first round pick.

We can not ignore the reality that holt's knee is beyond full repair. He is not getting any faster or younger and he wont be playing until he is in mid 30's. Does he catch a lot of balls for a lot of yards? sure. He is NOT a big time deep threat, he is a top notch possession receiver who has 2 years left assuming he doesnt hurt his knee again.

I find it amazing that people were willing to say Let Ike go and get nothing because he is past his prime but Holt is untouchable even for a #1 and a player. I think that bruce can catch as many balls as holt if he gets the same opportunities. Is he as good as holt now? No, he isnt. But the spread is NOT several million cap dollars, lito and a #1.

    ramming speed to all
