    Hypothetical injury situation

It seems that we've been living with injuries on this roster for years now. So as we sit here in the offseason doldrums, let's do a little hypothetical game. Fill in the blank:

"Here we go again. A season ending injury has been sustained by ___________________. Other than losing Bradford or Jackson, losing him to the IR is the worst thing I can think of."

"Before the gates of excellence the high gods have placed sweat; long is the road thereto and rough and steep at first; but when the heights are reached, then there is ease, though grievously hard in the winning." --- Hesiod

There are a number of good candidates but I've got to go with Mr. James Laurinaitis. As our defensive QB and leader in overall tackles it would be a nightmare if he went down for any extended period of time.

If we only lose one star player other than Bradford, we'll be doing pretty good given the last couple of years. That said, I'll give it a go. How about one player on offense and one on D?

On O, I'd go with Saffold, and on D it would be Finnegan. We really need Finnegan to help implement Fisher's D given the bevy of young players in the secondary, let alone his physical contributions.

Agree with RAMarkable. First name that came to my mind representing a major blow injury wise other than $am Bradford and SJ, was J-Lau.

    Probably Chris Long.

Without Long, we have no established pass rushers on the field.

As much as my first reaction was JLau, after some thought I would say Scott Wells. If we're ever going to get this offense going we need a strong starting center.

    Go Rams!

Sean Payton was on crutches at one point and the team still did a great job.

I pondered this one for a while. I would have to say any starter on the interior Oline would be detrimental to the entire offense.

    Re: Hypothetical injury situation

Actually, I don't think losing Jackson would be that bad. Pead would more than fill that void. Besides, for the last what, five years, Jackson has missed significant time injured. I fully expect him to miss games again this year.

But I went with the center and heart of the new Oline-Wells.

    Re: Hypothetical injury situation

With just one other LB (Jo Lonn Dunbar) on the roster that's played any significant minutes at all, in the NFL, I believe Laurinaitas is as easy an answer for this question as there is on this roster. And I don't even believe there's a close second.
