I think I know why Owens is still on the team ..

Obviously I am guessing, but as the Rams scan the waiver wire, they're bound to find someone to sign .. not just a practice squad guy, (not that they wouldn't sign a player or two for PS), but a player who will be signed to the 53 man roster. If we're full at 53 right now, and we sign a db or o-line player, someone has to go! I'm hoping that player will be Richard "Fosl" Owens .. Thoughts ??

On Sunday, the Rams tended to some more roster business. Tight end Richard Owens, who made the initial cut in a bit of a surprised, was released. In his stead, the Rams signed former Colt defensive back Brannon Condren.

Condren was a reserve safety and special teamer for Indianapolis in 2007, playing in eight games with two tackles and four special teams stops.

The roster tweaking might not be done yet as the Rams continue to scour the waiver wire in search of potential depth at a few positions, with a veteran cornerback apparently at the top of the list.

The team is expected to finalize its eight-man practice squad this evening or Monday morning.

Let's see how all this pans out.
