    Talking I Told You So!

    I told you so!
I new Steven Jackson would hold the Rams hostage If we didn't draft
    a RB !
And since we are playing the Titans we will get to see Chris Johnson
the RB that I was hoping the Rams would pick in the 2ND round. And some of
you said you would scratch your eyes out if the Rams picked him !

Well he went in the first round ! And our 2ND pick broke his *** !!!
I just thought I would ask how your blind in one eye and can't see out
    the other eyes are doing??

Now I am happy with what the rams did in the draft because they didn't
get a chance at Johnson in the second and we probably got a better WR
in the 4Th in Burton than we did in the 2ND with Avery!

But if we could of got a top RB in the 2ND Jackson would have allot less
    leverage than he dose now!

I can't Waite to see Chris Johnson play to see what we missed out on!

SO NOW IT'S TIME TO PAY TOP $$ FOR MR JACKSON!!
    I TOLD YOU SO!!

I don't see it like you. SJ is doing what all players do at some point get paid. I knew it would not be easy too get SJ a new contract but it will get done.

You told us so? Huh? I remember you wanted to draft Chris Johnson, but what exactly is your point here? Chris Johnson is on the Titans, Jackson is holding out, these really have nothing to do with eachother... not sure what point your making here.

Although your post is stinky with the "I told you so" smell, I have to agree with your point that if we had another top tier RB, Jackson would definitely be a lot more worried about missing all this time.

MY POINT is if the RAMS had drafted a good RB they could say by by to
Steven Jackson for some first round picks if he held out on his contract!!
And have a RB that is ready to step right in and play! witch takes leverage
away from Jackson and lets him know your JOB is to be here or be gone!!
    COMPETITION IS A GOOD THING!
Right now Jackson has no GOOD COMPETITION !!!
LOOK at James Hall they got Chris Long and now all of a sudden Hall has
been a terror in camp so far!!
They let Hall know his job is on the line and now he has show en up!!
    He has COMPETITION!!

    THATS MY POINT!!!

I don't even know where to begin with this thread. Hopefully someone can lend RANDYRAM some Chapstick since his lips are likely cracked from tooting his own horn so much.

Meanwhile, back in reality, nothing has changed from April. Using a second round pick on a RB makes just as little sense now as it did back then, and in no way guarantees that Jackson still wouldn't be holding out.

The Rams have intended to pay Jackson mega-bucks for a while now; they weren't going to spend a second round pick for the second year in a row on a running back.

    Re: I Told You So!

I must be missing your point here. You wanted the Rams to take Chris Johnson in the second round. When the Rams picked in the second round, he was already gone. So... the Rams should have taken some other RB in the second round? Who?

I can pretty much guarantee you that, unless the Rams took Darren McFadden with the second pick, the selection of a RB in the draft would have no impact at all on Steven Jackson's situation.

You told us so? Um... not so much.

    Re: I Told You So!

Shopping our franchise back just because we picked up some rookie would be a very, very bad idea. You could have said the same when we picked up second round running back Brian Leonard! Hey, we got a new guy. Bye-bye Steven Jackson...and any playoff hopes. The season hasn't even started, and a broken finger could happen to anyone. Chris Johnson could suffer a career-ending injury next week and never play a down of football (God forbid). You just don't know at this point.

And for that matter, are you seriously saying "I told you so" in regards to drafting a player in the second round AFTER he had been taken in the first? Did you tell us to trade up back into the first? ...Or is it "I told you we should have done something that was actually quite impossible!"

    Re: I Told You So!

Boy they are crawling out of the woodwork now. Jackson would have less leverage if there was a rookie backing him up. In case you missed the memo Jackson is a top 3 running back in the NFL. Chris Johnson has proven squat. Nice to see you want to see Johnson torch the Rams defense so we can see what we missed out on. I just dont know what to say about these people complaining about Jackson holding out. Ellard,Dickerson,Faulk, and Pace have all held out before why is it so hard for people to understand this is a business and this is how guys get their future taken care of. Jackson will sign people need to relax he hasnt missed anything. I'm just thankful people like RANDYMAN,YODARAM, and StLOUISRAM56 arent running the Rams. Randy would be drafting rookies to replace Jackson. Yoda would be benching Bulger and starting Green. STLOUISRAM56 would be releasing every player that held out. This means Faulk would have never played in 99, Ellard would have went to another team long before he actually did, and Pace would be someone elses bookend left tackle. I never thought I'd say this, but these guys make our front office look really smart.

Some? We'd be lucky to get one. That's how the NFL works now. Jackson needs no competition. He's proved he does EXTREMELY well without any. Plus, if we drafted a running back that high up..that would then make it look like we gave up on Brian Leonard and Antonio Pittman. Both are not bad options.

But let's say the Rams did draft Johnson. He still wouldn't start over Steven...even if Steven was holding out. But lets say Steven ended his holdout today. Then, that would make drafting Johnson look extremely idiotic..because all he's going to do is sit on the bench. For us to waste a second round pick on that is crazy. I swear..some of you people need to get off of your high-horse and just THINK for a freakin' second. This is the business side of the NFL taking place right now. Deal with it. If the rest of the team has no problem with it...the fans shouldn't either.

    Re: I Told You So!

You should wait till after the game to say I told you so. See how he does. Then try the I told you so, but get it to make sense. If we had a good backup of course Jackson would be in camp...but we'd be paying a lot of money at a position we dont need.

    Re: I Told You So!

One thing I don't understand is some people's fascination with rookies. Steven Jackson is in the prime of his career. What would the point be of drafting a rookie running back who needs to learn everything about the NFL that Jackson already knows? Unless they have had big time numbers in a big time program(kinda like Adrian Peterson) I'm betting Jackson is hands down better than any rookie.

I just don't see the sense in drafting a guy, grooming him, putting tons of effort in him, turning him into one of the leagues best, and then trading him because you just drafted a new guy to groom, put a ton of effort in, etc.

Jackson is our man, and we will eventually pay him like he's our man, and Saunders will finally use him like he's our man.
