I want your opinion.
Do you think that players on the Rams roster are not living up to their potentoial and what is the reason for that?
I just saw WW make 6 tackles, 1 int, 1 sack, 1 forced fumble for the eagles. I dont remember seeing him to anything for us this year. From what ive watched everytime a linebacker made a play it was either James Laurinaitis or Vobora.
PS Dont even start me on DeSean, who is turning into the playmaker that we so desperately need.Last edited by thermobee; -10-27-2009 at 02:13 AM.

You can be an Elite player on the rams and suck because everyone around you sucks.. Everybody needs to contribute its not a 1 man team.

Re: I want your opinion.
Even average players can thrive in a winning environment. Mentally, you're in a good place which lends itself to productivity and success. Conversely, even all-pro caliber players will eventually succumb to negative thinking and loss of focus when all you do is lose. It doesn't mean they're not trying- it's human nature.
The Rams have some guys who certainly aren't living up to potential and haven't justified where they were picked in the draft. By the same token, we have an absolute dearth of talent at numerous positions. There is no one single thing that plagues the Rams which is the problem. What do you address first?

Re: I want your opinion.
It's interesting. In one game in Philly, Witherspoon was a bigger playmaker and made more of an impact than he has in the last two years as a Ram.
Starting from the beginning of the 2008 season to his last game as a Ram, Witherspoon came up with one interception, one forced fumble, one sack, and three passes defensed. In one night in Philly, he basically matched that production. Was he not trying here in St. Louis the last season and change? I doubt that, but playing with more talent around you can help improve the level of your play, and the Eagles defense have more talent and are better than the Rams are right now. Just ask Kim Herring what having talent around you can do for you.
Not trying to say that Witherspoon is comparable to Kim Herring, by the way. Just emphasizing that sometimes guys will play better when they're surrounded by better talent.

Re: I want your opinion.
Linebacker play greatly depends on the defensive tackles they have in front of them. This is an area we have sorely lacked the past several years. Witherspoon looked like he did in Carolina.

Re: I want your opinion.
I thought WW played very well for us.. I was stunned to hear we traded him for a WR that apparently cant catch.. and a 5th rounder..
color me crazy.. but WW meant more to us than that in my opinion..
and if sunday showed anything, im right..
Spoon was one of the guys still hitting runners when we were down 20+ points.. which unfortunately is any game after halftime.. and some before..

Re: I want your opinion.
The Eagles defense is light years ahead of the Rams D as of now. This was the reason
WW was in position to make the plays he did last night. We do have the talent in place in some areas. But because of bad game planning, coaching or more than likely, deficient talent in key areas, the talent never shines.
I remember before the 08 draft watching all the top college WRs on You tube and clearly coming away thinking Desean Jackson was the best I saw. I dont understand our idiot scouting team at all. THese people are running this team into the ground.

Re: I want your opinion.
I think the drafting of Avery over Desean Jackson came down to a red flag over character issues with Jackson. Linehan certainly didn't strike me as the kind of coach who could handle a player who didn't keep his mouth shut and fall into line.
I still feel that Avery is talented and if we weren't so reliant on him then maybe he would be developing nicely without such a spotlight on him. He had a pretty good year when Torry Holt was opposite him.
Maybe if we'd drafted Jackson and Avery had gone to Philly then Avery would be the one making big plays every week whilst Desean struggled in a poor offense? Winning helps players confidence and performance - see Will Witherspoon for proof.

Once you can win the battle up front on Offensive and Defensive Lines, then, and only then can your atheltes and skill players achieve full potential

maybe some of you understand a little better why you build teams from the inside out if you want to be a contender..

Re: I want your opinion.
as far as WW.. sorry if you missed him hustling.. we dumped him a week early due to the deadline, knowing vobora would be back.. and we paid embarrasingly for it.. and we will possibly feel it the rest of the year..
i didnt know we were going to scrap the year 6 weeks in.. season ticket holders should be tickled to death.. not to mention, sunday sounded like a road game alot of the time..Last edited by longfan; -10-27-2009 at 08:25 PM.

Re: I want your opinion.
yes i know Gibson played before he came here...so where have you read or seen that he has a problem catching the ball? because he only has played in one game but didnt make a catch? maybe he only took a few snaps and wasnt thrown to..
Spoon wouldnt have made a difference to the outcome on sunday..he did play in the previous 16 defeats..and has been outplayed by rookies and journeymen. out of the 17 teams to defeat us on this losing streak the Colts are the best team weve lost to,if spoon couldnt change the outcome of games against lesser teams i cant see what difference he would have made on sunday.
what he does now in the future for the Eagles where he`s surrounded in talent means nothing in regard to wether we should have kept him or not, because under our current circumstances he has proven that he couldnt help us get out of it.
what will help us is a wide reciever to develop..(even if your so far unproven claims about him being unable to catch the ball are proved true) a 5th round pick(nobody knows who that will be or if we use that to trade for a proven vet with upside) and over 6 million dollars in cap space next year (to get a good F.A. signing out of..)
the EJD has sounded like a road game for the last couple of years when we had Spoon i dont see what difference keeping a player who for whatever reason wasnt able to perform to a standard that would help us change that... would do.
as for your comments about not wishing to discuss this any further..thats fine..i havent got a problem with people not agreeing with anything i say..but if you dont want a reply..then maybe telling your dog that Gibson cant catch would be more suitable than saying it on a discussion board geared for people to discuss football.Last edited by Ramblin` Ram; -10-27-2009 at 08:58 PM.
