You can't imagine how much I enjoy listening to various announcers absolutely butcher the pronunciation of Hoomanawanui's name. It really is fun listening to the various attempts.

It takes a while to figure out Hawaiian pronunciations, but most of them are relatively simple once you catch on to the basics. That said, whenever I order anything from the mainland over the phone, when the salesperson gets to the address part, I don't pronounce my street and town right off the bat. Instead, I tell he or she, that I will spell it for them because I live in Hawaii. So far, they've all been grateful.
