I'd rather have Haslett doing the drafting
.
If you know how NFL teams work, you know Carriker was Haslett's pick - or based on his input, and blessing.
Carriker - Haslett's pick
Leonard - Linehan's pick. Then he goes on to barely use Leonard by the end of the season, and this considering all our needs.
Thinking about the Draft, I'd rather have Haslett making those picks than Linehan.

Carriker - not really a knockout, but the potential is there. Does Haslett know the offensive needs of the Rams?

I'm sure to an extent he is aware of the crisis on the offensive side of the ball. We have a great quarterback, a running back who is improving as the seasons pile on him and two pro-bowl receivers with a few good ones right behind them.
If anyone is to watch a Rams' game, they'll see that injuries have kept our line at what it has been this season. We're lacking the potential on offense because we are short key players in those positions.
However, the original poster of this thread is correct. Haslett made a great draft pick. Carriker is young, but he made it as a starter his rookie season. Putting him in the starting line up for seasons to come will only improve him. We need a few other important players on our defense. A defensive linesman and a defensive back would be key to our offseason and we need to find impact players for these positions. Whether it be draft, free agency or both.

Re: I'd rather have Haslett doing the drafting
Haslett is just bidding his time. He will be a HC--maybe for the Rams, but with the off season some teams are likely to change their dirrection and would be surprised if Haslett has a few interviews.
When Linehan was hired it was to keep the focus on the offense. But linehan wasn't up to the task of keeping a dynamic and fluid offense that was the GSOT. If nothing else, he killed it and its not likely to return

Leonard goes on to have the 3rd most yards of any rookie RB, behind 2 top 15 picks, and one top-10 pick.

Adrian Peterson: 1305 yds
Marshawn Lynch: 1010 yds
Brian Leonard: 288 yds
That statement is pretty much irrelevant.
But Haslett has had a history of good 1st round draft picks:
With New Orleans:
2001: Deuce McCallister HIT
2002: Donte Stallworth HIT Charles Grant HIT
2003: Jonathon Sullivan MISS
2004: Will Smith HIT
2005: Jammal Brown HIT

In the last 4 games (SEA, ATL, CIN, GNB), Leonard's had ONE rush for 2 yards.
In the last 6 games (aforementioned plus N.O. and SanFranny) he's gotten 4 carries for 10 yards.

Exactly, I guarantee you Haslett is more respected around the league. The other
teams in our division would rather have Linehan making the picks than Haslett. I don't
think Haslett will be a Ram come Draft day, so I don't look for things to improve any time soon.

I'd rather that Tony Softli had a bigger say in selecting players. I would rather he make the picks than Linehan. Tx .. why do you think Haz will be elsewhere in 08 .. The Rams D although not a world beater has shown improvement while Linny's offense has regressed. Do you sense a rift between Linehan and JH? Or do you think he has done such a superlative job of coaching that NFL teams with imminent coaching changes approaching will snatch him up?

Re: I'd rather have Haslett doing the drafting
I'd rather have Haslett stay. It's hard to say how well our offense would have done with all these offensive injuries (mainly the line), but I would have to say Linehan is no fan of the GSOT and from the beginning I never thought he would utilize our WRs as much as in the past. It's not like we could have expected him to be a playcaller like Martz.
I think Leonard has potential, but the problem is he isn't quick enough for breakaway speed as a RB, but isn't big enough to be a FB. I think he could still be utilized though.

This guy is a clown for sure. This team is screwed for at least three more years. Sympathies to all.

Using that logic, so does Scott Linehan.
Tye Hill - hit
Adam Carriker - hit
2/2

Exactly. Carriker was Linehan's pick right from the get go.

Its not just first round picks too, tony palmer, mark setterstrom, clifton ryan, all were very good late round picks
