Recognizing the rich football history of the Rams and the St. Louis Football Cardinals, the St. Louis Rams created a Ring of Fame at the Dome at America’s Center.

The ring, displayed inside the Dome, features 13 players who have been elected to the Pro Football Hall of Fame and who played the majority of their careers with the Rams or Cardinals.

10 members of the Rams (Norm Van Brocklin, Eric Dickerson, Tom Fears, Elroy [Crazylegs] Hirsch, David [Deacon] Jones, Tom Mack, Merlin Olsen, Jackie Slater, Bob Waterfield and Jack Youngblood) and three members of the Cardinals (Dan Dierdorf, Jackie Smith, and Larry Wilson) are honored in the Ring of Fame.

The Rams and Cardinals players’ names, jersey numbers and seasons of service are on display.
This information is from the Rams website.

I have to disagree. We wouldn't have that SB ring in your av without #28. So I think it's more about quality of service than quantity of service. Faulk has been here long enough and obviously played at an incredible level and deserves a retired jersey.

Re: If Faulk retires, would the rams....

A real dilemma it is -- the point that you, Bruce, and Maineram make about quality Vs. quantity of service years with the team.

I had not realized that in order to be on the Ring of Fame/Honor, the player must be inducted in the NFL HOF. ??? Is that accurate?

As for Marshall Faulk, we know he will be ushered into the HOF, probably on his first year of eligibility. I do agree with the tradition of retiring jersey #s, provided it is done with the rarity of player in mind; and that, of course, can be catchy and subjective (Merlin Olsen yes, retire jersey / Deacon Jones no, don't retire jersey, both HOFamers).

Yes, I would give an affirmative to Faulk's No. being set apart forever. :angryram:

And I wish we could permanently place a couple more names in that Ring of Fame/Honor too!

Re: If Faulk retires, would the rams....

In that case, I stand corrected Nick.

General counsel, Dickerson demanded to be traded because we were to cheap to pay him what he was worth and deserved.

No he wasn't an intrigal part of a superbowl win ( through no fault of his own), but he certainly was the Rams MVP every season he wore a Rams uniform. Can Faulk say that? No. But that's neither here, nor there.

Don't get me wrong, they were both as great as they came, but my point was, if Dickerson's number wasn't retired, then no Ram RB should be.

But since #29 is retired, #28 can take his rightful place beside him.

Re: If Faulk retires, would the rams....

His number should be retired because I said it should. Just joshing, but seriously can anyone here picture another Ram in the 28 uniform. If they allow it I want an aterisk next to it lol.
