3. Earns the respect of his players and coaches.
4. Has the ability to "sell" his "program" to his players, coaches and fans.
5. Exhibits a passionate desire to WIN! (haven't seen this since Dick Vermeil. (tears are optional)

Cowher could fit. Not likely to happen, though. I think Cowher's first N.F.L. coaching return interest lies with Carolina. If Fox gets bumped, he's there. That would leave Fox available. However, i'm not that thrilled about Fox. But wait, there's more. Cowher's daughter will attend Penn State this year and it's rumored that he's been talking a lot with the athletic department. And having overnight stays.
Could Cowher take over the head coaching duties for the Nittany Lions and free up Joe Paterno?! If that happens then i vote for JoePa!
Think about it! He meets all of the qualifications! Plus he has 50+ years of coaching experience. And at 81 years old he still has more "football" life in his veins than Linehan will ever have! Linehan couldn't hold Paterno's "Depends"! Come on everybody; JoePa! JoePa! JoePa! JoePA!..............

RAM ON!
Hahah, priceless. Excellent coaching qualities here that we are desparately missing.

In all seriousness. I would love to see Marty Shotenhiemer as our coach. I like what he does with a run based O and a strong D, which is where I see our team heading.

Re: "IF" Linehan fails.

Whoever would replace Linehan, would depend on if you want a Football GM. Part of the Rams problems has been a weak GM. A stronger GM who knows football would have keep Madman Martz in check with his reckless handling of the ball. A Football GM would have perhaps helped Linehan put together a better coaching staff in the first place.

To be a good Football GM, you need to surround yourself with wizards of finances to help manage the salary cap, and staff that knows talent. kinda helpful to know who is worth what $$$ to keep, trade, or acquire. This GM would think and know football first.

If Dallas falls on its face this coming season I wager W. Phillips would be available
---BIG FREAKING NO WAY there !!

Still the idea is that the GM and HC are a team in themselves. With the Rams its not been a good forumal that promotes success. Just sometimes you get a odd working combination that does. Can't argue D. Virmeil/ M. Martz success between the passion of the former and the craziness of the latter...Front Office asside.

Cowher as the Rams HC? Don't see it happening...even if the Rams pulled a SeaHawks where they at first gave Holmgren ABSOLUTE authority would Cowher come to St Louis. Fox, not to sure there either in terms if he would be a fit for the team.

I have no clue as of yet who I would replace Linehan with as HC. But before I would axe Linehan, I would be finding me a new GM first with a very short contract (added incentive to succeed early being under the gun that way)--then find a new HC

Re: "IF" Linehan fails.

Personally, I'd like to see Saunders or Haslett (probably Saunders though) get their shot. Other than that...Lombardi.

Nobody's mentioned Ron Rivera yet, either, but I think he'd warrant consideration.

RAM ON!
I'm not sold on either Fox or Saunders. I'm just saying they’re the most likely candidate should Linehan go.
