If the S.S. Salary Cap is sinking, who gets the last life jacket?
Here's a "what if" that I'd hate to have to make the call on...
Welcome to the St. Louis Rams!

Amendola should get it. Steven Jackson has been a great Ram- a warrior- and a guy who has represented the franchise well during horrendous times. He's been tremendous on the field, even underrated, due to the Rams' futility the past 8 years. But his time is coming to a close. He is beginning the inevitable slide towards mortality. Amendola, injuries and all, is younger and is that rare guy who provides a spark. Bradford needs him, and we've waited for years to get a wideout who is a solid player- a scrapper and a fighter. Amendola fits the bill. I can't see giving up a guy like that.

I went with Jackson because I think he will be cheaper. I'm not ready to see Richardson and Pead carry the load... yet. I'd like to see Jackson come back for 2 more years with a similar load to this year, so he can stay fresh throughout the year and carry us through some of these gritty games. The games we have won this year, it seems we have been well balanced and that all starts with SJ.

This is totally Sophie's choice.
For me it depends on value: if we're talking about signing either to an unreasonable figure, I don't want to be a part of it. The number of years the player is signing for should also be taken into consideration - with both players, the best case scenario might not be a long-term deal given Jackson's age and Amendola's injury history.
Assuming that we're getting a fair deal from both players, Jackson is my guy on a two-year deal.

Re: If the S.S. Salary Cap is sinking, who gets the last life jacket?
Yeah my argument is similar to NJ. We all love Jackson, I don't think any Ram fan could not. But unfortunately with the state of the offense, they simply need Danny more. This past game is an example of that. The wide outs we have (Givens excluded) can't get separation. We can complain about getting better offensive line play all we want, but if the WR's can't get open, it'll be more check downs, more 3-and-outs, and more stagnant offense.
Unless the Rams can replace DA for cheap in the offseason, I don't see how they can let him walk. Finding a good back is easier than a good WR. Plus, with better line play, the RB will have lanes. Can't say the same about the WR position.
So for me, it comes down to which loss hurts the offense more. Yesterday's game convinced me this offense really needs Danny, injuries and all.

I love Amendola about as much as any Ram's fan can, BUT Jackson has defined what it is to be a classy professional NFL player all the while wearing a Rams unifrom.
I'm also not on of of the guys who is buying the "he's too old" b.s. that has been floating around.
Jeff Fisher wants a younger cheaper team and Jackosn doesn't fit those catagories.
Amendola is a fantasic player, but injuries are a major concern when it comes to him. Even with th age differenece between him and Jackson I would bet on Steve having more tread on his tires.

It entirely depends on FA and the Draft. It is such a tough call, but I think what Steven means to this team and its fanbase, he wins out. There is no one more dependable. Danny is pretty damn dependable, but Steven just has an attitude about him that is hard to find. So, character sways me on this one. As far as need, we need them both. Voted Jackson only because I had to pick one.

The Rams need to evolve, so it's easily DA for me. Speed and quickness must be served at both positions.!
