If you want to combat LotR, don't reply to his posts
Simply put, if he really does bother you, just ignore him. I grew up with 2 siblings and my parents were very wise to point out occasions where someone was bothering someone else and getting a kick out of it. This is definitely what LotR is doing, having seen (and, I'll admit, done) it all the time as a kid.
His only enjoyment comes from making ridiculous statements and having people respond, outraged to them. If you don't let him make you angry, he will stop enjoying posting and leave.
In the words of my dad, "It takes two people to make you angry - you have to agree that they are making you angry." The only fun he derives is that which he gets from making us angry at him and starting fights.
Of course he does have some value as comic relief as has been mentioned before.

If your theory is correct, and it probably is, wouldn't LOTR be getting a kick out of the fact that this thread was started?

You know you wish you were me!

Well yes he got a kick out of this thread, but it is hopefully his last... Just trying to pass on some of my daddy's wisdom to everyone else hehe.
It just bothers me to see people stoop to the level of actually arguing with him when that's all that he wants them to do.

Well, your dad sounds like a wise man. However, this LOTR may be good for a few laughs and head scratches over the winter.
