(If You're Patient) 5 Things You Might See The Rams Do With Their Cap Space
1. Lock Up Core Talent
The Rams are going to want to secure the services of players like Steven Jackson and O.J. Atogwe. Now, they have the money to do so.
2. Make Smart Moves In The "Secondary" FA Market
Once the rush to sign (and overpay) the bigger names pass, there will be a "secondary" market in which up-and-coming players might be had for a more reasonable price.
3. Make a Significant Trade
People always like to play fantasy GM and propose trades, but they often forget that, once you acquire a player by trade, you often need to sign him to a long term deal. You want Chad Johnson, Roy Williams, DeAngelo Hall or Shaun Rogers? Well, it takes more than trade value... it takes $ as well.
4. Stockpile Young Talent In The Draft
This is a pretty deep draft at several positions, including OT and WR. If the Rams want to trade future choices to get an extra day 1 pick, they now have the $ to sign the extra choice. Not a bad idea, if you ask me.
5. Save for 2009
No fan wants to hear this, but the smartest move might be to wait until the 2009 FA market to make a big move. Sure, we all want to add players for the 2008 season. But let's not mortgage the future to do so.

Re: (If You're Patient) 5 Things You Might See The Rams Do With Their Cap Space
here are 5 alternative things the ram's might do with their money.
1. Buy new chairs for ziggy's office
2. Install new espresso maker in owner's suite
3. Sign a FA punter to go with their new place kicker
4. sign another TE
5. Increase per Diem for Ram's execs for away games

AV youre a genius. Some great mind and opinion you have for the money. Send in an application for a front office position.
WE NEED OJ AND SJAX. They are the future of our team. They will be the future of the Rams. Lose them, lose all hope.
Save for 09. That way, we have MORE cap space to possibly sign players instead of letting them go to get "cap space"
I'm not too sure on the trade. But good post none the less.

Nice post. It seems all one would have to do is look at the Bennett signing to see that sometimes it's better to sit on your money.
