It's very ironic isn't it? That you're seeing the old football addage come true on a football message board. "The best defense is a good offense".

It's a phenomenon that I can't say is steeped in tradition here at the clan, but it does rear its ugly head at times. I can't say I see it, all the time (but I skim read half of everything) and it's sad to me that you do. Because that tells me that we're violating our responsibilites to each other as posters. Not that we don't have the right to disagree, but we have the responsibility to disagree in a civil manner.

There's a time and a place for every fan's opinion, and this board is most certainly it. And I think anyone who spends any amount of time here understands and promotes that concept.

And it's evidenced through the parity that's established. Whether you're a 7000 post vet like Av or HuB, a relative newbie such as myself, or a completely new member, everyone has an opinion, and everyone has a level footing to express it. It's only natural that some will agree and some won't.

What's fantastic is that you have the full spectrum. People who are a wealth of knowldge, people who specialise in little areas, people who are adamant about their opinions, and those select few posters who act as a voice of reason. What's great is that we have people who can say yes, adamantly, and people who can disagree confidently without the "fear" of being torn to shreds by a poster who is, by consensus, "superior".

Hey- I recently hit 1000 posts. If y'all can put up with me for that long, I think this place is going just fine.

So chin up.

But, moloch, when posters say things like "I'm never supporting this team again", or "I'm not supporting this team until....", or "I'm done with this team. Go (new team)!".....then it would seem questioning loyalty would be a valid argument, would it not?

Meh- if someone makes a statement out of frustration- I don't give it much merit. If it's the same person making the same statements all the time, they should just move on and go follow the Patriots or something. I have been frustrated by this team many O' time, but I still follow them- I just reserve the right to vent my frustration on a public forum such as this.
