I'm going to say what we're all thinking, but don't want to say.
Its a given that the only acceptable outcome to this week's opener against the Whiners is a win. That much is beyond debate.
But I suspect that we're all thinking that this game needs to be a big win. Nobody is going to be happy with a 17-10 game. Nobody will jump for joy if the Rams win 20-17 on a last second field goal.
Dare I say - some will consider a win of that magnitude to be indicative of doom to come, rather than a reason to celebrate.
Its funny to say this, but I think that the preseason game against the Lions showed us what we really want and, perhaps, expect of this Ram team.
We want to see the team score more than 30.
We want to see the defense give up less than 20.
We want a BIG WIN!
Let's hope we get it.

I couldn't disagree more. The first game of the year typically gives us problems. This time we're on the road facing off with the rival Whiners. They have a new offense and defense that we've never seen used in San Fran.
I'll be happy with any kind of win.

Re: I'm going to say what we're all thinking, but don't want to say.
Seriously though, I would have to agree...Most of My "denver" freinds..think that we should kill the 9ers. And we probabaly should if we are the team that we look like on paper.
But San Fran will always play us hard because of the rivalry...Im never comfortable with playing them..no matter how good we are and how bad they are.
Id love to see what Avenger is talking about, but Ill be happy with any kind of W.

Re: I'm going to say what we're all thinking, but don't want to say.
From what I have read lately, we are way ahead on the offense due to the fact Pace has been in camp, we have a lot more in the game plan at this time then the last few years, so I would have to agree. We should blow out the whiners, if we don’t it’s going to look like we are still going in the wrong direction. The whiners are one of the worst teams in the league. I don’t know about you guys but I would like to be in Cruz control by the 3rd quarter. I think we need to look really good against a really bad team.

You're a bad mind reader, Avenger. Even if only in jest, I do not appreciate having someone say he/she "knows" what I want, what I'm thinking or what my expectations are.
You suspect incorrectly of my thoughts for this coming game or for any other venture or entity considered.
As a fan of the St. Louis Rams, I say (not mentally), GO RAMS! :angryram:

Maybe its just me and the voices in my head, then.
What?
You want me to do what?
Kill who?
Yes, masters. I obey.

Re: I'm going to say what we're all thinking, but don't want to say.
Many people are forgetting that the ***** suffered a horrendous amount of injuries last year, especially to their defense. Players like J. Peterson, A. Carter, Ulbrecht, Winborn, Plummer and Parish all missed significant time or were injured for most of the year. And I dare say that all of those players would start or see major playing time on our defense today. Look for this game to be a lot closer than most are projecting. Yeah, the Rams will move the ball but will they score TD's in the red zone? Also, IMHO, the Rams have always had trouble with the 3-4 defense. This game could come down to turnovers and special teams (GASP!)

Re: I'm going to say what we're all thinking, but don't want to say.
OK, speaking for myself here. I agree with you AV !! There just hasn't been the thread started to voice my opinion on this first game.
I think that the ****er's 3-4 will cause us fits, (see Chargersw preseason game).
We need to come out and kick them in the ARSE from the get go. Sense of urgency !!!!!!
What I don't want to see this year, that happened last year, is us coming from behind or trying to keep up with our opponent each week to pull out a victory. Sitting on the VERY edge from beginning to the end of the game HOPING that they pull out avictory is BULL SH*T. They need to take control of the game and make the opponent try and keep up. We should have the offense to do so, with Jackson, Faulk, and those receivers.
If they are a contender this year, ( and I think that they are) they need to play like a Champion from game 1
FEAR THE HORNS !!!! :clanram:

Re: I'm going to say what we're all thinking, but don't want to say.
Nothing worse than the lock of the week being unlocked! A win is a win. I would like them to beat the spread, but the win is most important. 9er's always play us tough at home. This will be a good test to see if we are ahead with a healthy team like everyone seems to think!

I think the Niners are fairly weak.. Their DEF is lowly.
Expect Martz to make it a long day for the Niners.

Re: I'm going to say what we're all thinking, but don't want to say.
I'll admit it....I want a BIG win.
I want lots of points, and I want the defense to shut them down. I want a big point spread.
