Re: I'm looking forward to turley being cut

I too am in agreement that Kyle Turley should be cut by the Rams today, but I am not in agreement with all of the flak that Turley has received from the media. Turley was the 7th pick of the 1998 draft and was named All Rookie and later All Pro by various publications twice before he came to the Rams. He was outstanding for the Rams in 2003, even though he had a bad back all season. When he had surgery to correct the back problem and missed the 2004 season as a result, everyone jumped on him, including Martz. If Turley was back to good health this season, he would be the starting right tackle.

Having Turley leave the Rams is the best for all concerned, but I for one wish him well with the rest of his NFL career.

I Agree With You About Turley,i Am A Big Turley Fan But For The Sake Of The Team He Needs To Be Cut Today,i Think To Much Is Made Of These Situations Sometimes (ex. Brenda Warner) When The Media Gets A Hold Of Something That Was Said And Blows It Up,just Be Done With It And Move On.

With our luck he'll end up in Seattle or Arizona...have some sort of miraculous comeback...and the whole thing will end up biting us in the ass

It's not like he's a playmaker or anything. He's not a game changer when healthy. I'm not worried.

when he was healthy he was a game changer because he was able to stop anyone without help, which took a lot of pressure off the rest of the line, which in my mind is a game changer. Just because he didn't have stats to put up doesn't mean that he didn't have a huge affect on the defensive game plan.

Man, Zig, I don't know. When Turley is healthy, he is as fine a RT as there is. But at 260 pounds, I wouldn't worry too much about him.

in my opinion, he is doing his best to protect his arbitration position, by working out and shooting his mouth off about how he is going to play again. He is unlikely with that back situation to ever be an effective right tackle again and there is no evidence to suggest that he WANTS to be a right tackle. He wants to be a defensive end. What he REALLY WANTS is to protect the huge cash bonus that he already got and cover for the fact that he may have violated his contract by failing to rehab last year, especially since he used his own doctors.

good riddance, he will not bite us down the road.

Yes, he's fine. He's not dominant. He got beat several times on the right side in 2003. He was much better than what we had last year, but he's not dominant. I'd like our chances if Little went up against him.
