Were they in Cleveland for 50 years? Did they even have t.v. when the Rams were in Cleveland?

Re: I'm posting this everywhere!

This kinda sucks because all the Rams preseason games were shown live in LA. Politics, politics, politics. Sounds like the Faiders still get to be broadcast in LA, even though they're almost 400 MILES AWAY! What total BS. All is not lost though, the NFL Network will re-air all the games multiple times and the game against the Chargers may be shown live in LA.

Here's more of the article:

For the first time in more than a decade, the St. Louis Rams will not be allowed to broadcast their preseason games into the Los Angeles market that housed the team from 1946 to 1994.

The Rams have made a point to broadcast preseason games in their old home city. In March, the NFL’s broadcast committee, headed by Patriots owner Robert Kraft, voted unanimously to stop teams such as the Rams from broadcasting games in faraway markets.

The Rams have broadcast preseason games in the Los Angeles market since 1995, their first season in St. Louis. But the broadcast committee decided to enforce a ruling that ensured that teams would not broadcast preseason games beyond their secondary market.

“This policy allows teams to maximize local marketing and ticket sales efforts, while also protecting the interests of other clubs and network TV partners,” said NFL spokesman Dan Masonson.

The move helps out the San Diego Chargers and Oakland Raiders, both of whom consider Los Angeles a “contiguous” market.

The move also helps the league’s network partners, CBS, ESPN, Fox and NBC, by removing competition in the country’s second-largest market. This year, the four networks, plus NFL Network, will telecast 13 live preseason games nationally. Six of those games will be competing against local telecasts in at least one of the NFL’s other 30 markets.

“We don’t want those games competing against each other,” Masonson said.

If L.A. is not a "secondary market" for the Rams, pray tell what is?

Mike,

Have you ever sat through one of those Raidahs pre-season broadcasts? OMG they are horrible!!! I am not sure who the announcer is, but his "man"/"team" love of the Raidahs is so sickening, I want to hurl!!!

It is painful to listen to Joe. If the announcer isn't bad enough, there's also boring homers Jim Plunket and George Atkinson who always maintain the usual Faider myopic attitude that the Super Bowl is just around the corner.

I'd still like to know why the Faiders get the okay to air games in LA but the Rams don't. The league and owners always seem to be fueding with Al Davis, yet they bend over and let him claim LA as a "contiguous" market.

Re: I'm posting this everywhere!

I am curios too Mike on how were going to get stuck with the Raiders again and no Rams. I wonder if it has anything to do with impending stadiums or moves? There was talk that the Chargers may take their show back up here some day. Also it is accepted that the league wont expand so if LA were to get a team again it would be someone else's, it all may be connected in the big picture.
