Bill Coats, of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, reports the St. Louis Rams have been impressed with rookie FB Madison Hedge**** thus far after his performance in a recent minicamp. "He's really a powerful blocker out of the backfield," head coach Mike Martz said. "It's so hard to find guys like him, good lead blockers that can get through traffic and get on guys without getting off-balance. They're unusual guys, and I think we might have one here." Hedge**** will compete with FB Joey Goodspeed for the lone fullback roster spot.
ok lets call him Hedgehammer, for now.... camp nickname. Also we can stop using the asterisks after hedge, leave thoughs for the San Fran *******
Re: Impressed with Hedge****
Between the Hedgehog, the improvements to the OL and naming Jackson as the starting running back, I'd say our running game has the potential to be very impressive this year. Let's just hope Martz will take advantage of it. Looking good so far!
Go Rams!!! :ramlogo:
Re: Impressed with Hedge****
Hey dudes isnt it a thrill to see the potential of the offence,Man I cant wait for the season to start.Even preseason is gonna be a hell of a kick
Re: Impressed with Hedge****
I wouldn't want to be Joey Goodspeed right about now. His performance in 2004 was good, but obviously the Rams were looking for an upgrade and it sounds like they've found one. I'd really love to see Hedgecock make the team.
Re: Impressed with Hedge****
Is there any doubt that Martz is ready to be serious with the running game? Look at the offseason additions between the tackles on the O:
Rex Tucker G - physical run blocker with nasty streak
Richie Incognito G/C - physical run blocker with nasty streak
Claude Terrell G - physical run blocker with nasty streak
Madison Hedgeasterisk FB - physical run blocker with nasty streak
Stephen Jackson named starting RB
It looks to me like Martz' air force is preparing for a ground attack.
Re: Impressed with Hedge****
Nastyyyy...I like it!!! :<>
But, can they pass block? That could be highly significant!
Re: Impressed with Hedge****
You all are just having too much fun with his name. He must have suffered as a child.
I would be very happy if Martz is making changes to improve the running game, but it is hard for me to believe that Martz is capable of thinking outside the passing game. I remain pessimistic, all though HUB makes some very good points regarding the running game.
