Inactive Rams
Can anyone explain why Butler, Fitzpatrick, Byrd where inactive for Sundays game. Aren't they part of the 53 man roster. I thought you could suit up 53 players for a game. Little confused on this one.

Re: Inactive Rams
Butler-Bartell can play both Safety and Corner. Save a man for activation
Byrd-We had 2 tight ends active plus Hedgecock, who has been slated for both in emergency situations
Fitz-Save room for special team players. I believe Linehan commented on this
As far as 53 man roster. They are all on it. But, on game day, a team may only declare 45 players as eligible to play for that week. The other 8 are not allowed to dress.

Re: Inactive Rams
although it obviously doesnt count with butler, byrd and fitz i believe you can only suit up 7 O-Lineman on gameday!
hence why sapaia got a roster spot in the past and goldberg has one now!

Re: Inactive Rams
Are you sure? That wouldn't even give you a backup for every position on the O-Line.

Re: Inactive Rams
You may be right about that. I'd never heard of the rule, but I've yet to find a team with anything other than 7 active OL this weekend.
