    interesting tidbits from KFFL

Rams | Teams That Limit Bruce
    Tue, 12 Jul 2005 21:45:49 -0700

Buccaneers.com reports St. Louis Rams WR Isaac Bruce has played 156 NFL games and averaged 75.3 receiving yards per game. He has also scored 74 touchdowns, or roughly one every two games. However, in four games against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Bruce has managed only 40.8 receiving yards per game and has not found the end zone. Only four teams have held Bruce to a lower per-game yardage average, and of those four only one has faced Bruce as often as the Buccaneers. The Denver Broncos, who have also faced Bruce four times, have allowed him only 35.0 yards per game. The Buccaneers, Broncos and Washington Redskins are the only teams that have faced Bruce at least four times and not allowed him a single touchdown.

Rams | Teams That Limit Faulk
    Tue, 12 Jul 2005 21:44:41 -0700

Buccaneers.com reports St. Louis Rams RB Marshall Faulk has played 160 games in his NFL career and averaged 74.9 rushing yards per game and 4.3 yards per carry. However, in the six games in which he has faced the Tampa Bay Buccaneers' defense, Faulk has averaged only 54.5 rushing yards and 3.8 yards per carry. Only six teams have held Faulk to a lower per-game rushing average, and of those six only one has faced Faulk as often as the Buccaneers. The San Diego Chargers, who have also faced Faulk six times, head the list with 39.5 yards allowed per game.

Bruce hasnt done well against tampa primarily because historically, we havent had time to throw and thus, he hasnt had time to get downfield to run his routes. I dont believe it is because their corners have been so great, but they have managed over the years to get pressure with their front four without blitzing much, limiting our ability to run our routes down the field.

As for faulk, his averages vs. tampa may be low, but he had one of the single greatest performances in nfl history in his 4 td monday night game vs. tampa.
