    Isaiah Pead Highlights and Thoughts

I moved to Cinci last fall, and since I had no cable I got to watch a lot of UC football. Every game Pead stuck out. This kid is quick and has some great moves. He also has good hands. I see LeSean McCoy potential and we couldn't ask for a better RB for him to train under. That being said he'll never be a bell cow. He will be a great addition to the team, but we will need to look for a bruiser in a year or two once Jax starts wearing out to help in third and short and goal line situations.

I didn't know him until I heard this name picked. I love the shifty quick RB's and that exactly what he is. My only concern is his size; If he will be able to take those NFL hits and remain healthy.

The one thing I hope about this guy is that he extends Steven Jacksons career a little bit by carrying the load. Thats all I'm asking for.

As others have correctly pointed out, he is basically the exact same size as ray rice.

I really dislike the pick but thats because hes a scat back and i really dont think a scat back is worth a second round pick. Rainey would have been there in the third and he is just as quick and did it against better competition

Runs just like Lesean Mccoy. Mccoy is super valuable to the Eagles and acts as their offensive catalyst imo. Pead's a playmaker for an offense that really didn't have one.

Is that not worth one of three second round picks?

Shady Mccoy is the player the comes to my mind to. Their easily comparable and size and playing style.

If he ends up as valuable as Mccoy, this will be a excellent pick.

I think he can and will prove to be a game changer.

Maybe it's just me, but I did some reading on this kid before the draft, watched some highlights and I was hoping he would somehow end up with our Rams. In fact, of all the 2012 draft picks, I think he could be the biggest surprise. He gives us the "home run" capabilty that we've lacked. He has a little Faulk in him, with the ability to change direction and take it to the house. Something Jackson no longer has.

I'm looking forward to watching this kid this year.

Not only can he change direction, he looks to be able to shift gears in an instant, and explode though the hole. He seems to have great vision as well. I'm excited about this kid.

There are several other videos at the end to choose from, with some pretty amazing runs.

That was the one knock of Marshall Faulk when he came out of college... think he did pretty well wouldn't you say?

Re: Isaiah Pead Highlights and Thoughts

Jackson is a good back but once you stop his momentum its usually a done deal, hes not getting too many yards after.

Pead brings an element of excitement and unpredicatability because he can break a 20 yard run off on you if you stop his momentum because he has excellent change of direction ability. He can reroute his steps and explode in another direction in a heartbeat which is something opposing defense have to worry about.
Numerous times ive seen Jackson runs where i thought man if he was only a little shiftier or a little faster we could have done soemthing here.

Jackson brings us dominant between the tackles ability and good tackle breaking skills but the guy is not a "playmaker" anymore. In thsi case, playmaker being someone who is a threat to score from anywhere on the field. Pead gives us that element out of the backfield and that is why I adore the pick.

People who pan the picks say Pead is going to be a backup but they ar elooking at it all wrong. Pead will be a playmaker and those are worth their weight in draft picks and you take them whenever you can find them.

Re: Isaiah Pead Highlights and Thoughts

I love pead, but i think its way off base to say that jackson isnt a playmaker anymore. Jackson has had essentially no blocking for years. When jackson gets any kind of hole at the point of attack he still breaks off plenty of big runs. In addition, he is a major threat catching the ball as well. Of course, he hasnt been able to show that of late because if he isnt kept in the backfield to block, sammy is at risk of getting killed.

I am not suggesting that jackson has the same game breaking ability as pead, only pointing out that the limitations on jackson are his blockers, and sammy, pead and the rest of our offense is at the whim of our offensive line play, which has to improve by 100% for us to improve in any material way offensively. That means both better play and a lot better health.

He can take it to the house at anytime. I think that was the theme of this years draft. Find guys that wont just get you that 10 yard first down, but someone that'll take it another 50 yards for the TD.

    LeSean McCoy : 5'11, 208 lbs
    Isaiah Pead : 5'11, 200 lbs

And both can make guys miss TERRIBLY. Ironically, McCoy was picked in the 2nd round at pick #53 and Pead was in the 2nd round as well at #50.

Isaiah Pead has one of the best juke moves I've seen in a long time.

Like the first play of the 2011 season against Philly where he broke off a 47 yard TD run. Give Jackson half a chance, and he'll make big plays.
