    Jackson/Carriker/Hill practice

Jackson, Carriker practicing for first time this week
    By Bill Coats
    St. Louis Post-Dispatch

Running back Steven Jackson is in uniform and on the practice field this morning at Rams Park. Jackson, who strained his right thigh muscle last Sunday vs. Dallas, is taking part in most of the drills. Jackson sat out practice Wednesday and Thursday.

Defensive tackle Adam Carriker (ankle) also is practicing for the first time this week, although he’s limited. Cornerback Tye Hill is suited up for the first time since undergoing knee surgery for torn cartilage suffered Sept. 28 vs. Buffalo. Hill won’t play Sunday at New England but could be ready for the Nov. 2 contest against Arizona.

All for now . . . more after practice.

    Re: Jackson/Carriker/Hill practice

Phew, my internet seems kinda slow today. I didn't see the whole headline on this article for a few seconds while I waited for it to load. I was really really fearing it would say "Jackson/Carriker ruled out this week". But it's almost the opposite, that's great news.

We absolutely need Jackson to play. I don't see any linebacker on the Patriots capable of matching Jackson physically with his supreme combination of size and speed, if our O-line punches even a small hole in their D-line Jackson is going to pick up yards. Great option in the passing game also.

Carriker would be very good to have. We need to plug the middle and force the Patriots to throw all day and try to intercept Cassell a few times, he'll make some bad throws.

Hill can stay away for all I care, I like our current secondary better without him, hopefully he develops but he shouldn't be handed a starting job without thoroughly earning it back now. Bartell and Brown are better, and heck I'm not even sure about Craft, I guess that's close (both suck).

Hill might make a good nickel back. Still can't believe we passed up Cromartie to get him. I dont think he'll be starting any time soon. Bartell has been outplaying him for 2 years now. Well at least when Hill is healthy.

Hill is an enigma. World class atheltic ability and talent, but he's too mental ...

He needs to relax and react and he'd be fine ...

Good news about Jackson. I really can't see him sitting out this week, given the momentum we have going for us right now.

Great news about Jackson. Hope he's out there and capable of handling a full work load.

I hope Carriker gets in there too! We need his strength out there. We have such a young line they need to keep playing together.

Sadly enough- I think this defense got better when Hill went down. I really think we're a stronger secondary with a journeyman like Craft in the lineup.
