Jackson Named “Snickers Hungriest Player"

Thursday, December 30, 2004

Hackettstown, NJ, December 28, 2004... Rookie running back Steven Jackson was named the Monday Night Football SNICKERS® HUNGRIEST PLAYER™ for Week 16 following the Rams’ 20-7 win over the Eagles last night in St. Louis. For his achievement, this week SNICKERS® will present him with a special SNICKERS® HUNGRIEST PLAYER™ Gameball, as well as donate $1,000 to the charity of his choice.

Jackson rushed for a career high 148 yards, 114 in the first half, as the Rams stayed alive in the NFC playoff picture. His five-yard TD capped a 10-play, 73-yard drive on the Rams first possession of the game. His night also included a 43-yard run in the second period. In winning this week’s award, Jackson becomes the third Ram this year to win SNICKERS HUNGRIEST PLAYER honors. Torry Holt ands Adam Archuleta shared the award for Week 6 following the Rams’ 28-21 win over Tampa Bay.

All fans who visited the Snickers web site and correctly selected Steven Jackson prior to 11:00 PM EST last night will receive a free Snickers bar, and will automatically be eligible to win this week’s grand prize - two season tickets to the winner’s team of choice for the 2005-2006 season. Each week, five players from each team in the Monday Night game appeared on Snickers.com, along with a “WILDCARD” for each team. Fans logged onto the site, registered with a code found inside the wrapper of specially marked Snickers bars, and selected a player from the ten nominees, or chose the “WILDCARD” representative of the remaining players on the rosters.

The winner of the Monday Night Football season ticker package will be randomly selected later this week from all fans who picked Jackson to win the SNICKERS HUNGRIEST PLAYER in last night’s game. Throughout the season, Snickers awarded 16 Grand Prizes, including Super Bowl Trips and Monday Night Football Weekend Getaways in New York and Miami. New to the program this year, Snickers® awarded 35 additional prizes each week, including $100 gift certificates to NFLShop.com, EASports Madden NFL Football video games and Official NFL Footballs.

Fans can now log onto snickers.com and vote for the SNICKERS HUNGRIEST PLAYER OF THE YEAR. The nominees include the winners for all 16 games this year as selected by the Monday Night Football broadcast team. Fans who correctly select the winner will be automatically eligible for 5-day, 4-night trip to Honolulu, HI for the 2005 Pro Bowl.

This year’s winners have included Green Bay’s Ahman Green (Week 1), the Eagles’ Jevon Kearse (Week 2), the Cowboys’ Richie Anderson (Week 3), the Chiefs’ Priest Holmes (Week 4), the Titans’ Chris Brown, Lamont Thompson and Tank Williams (Week 5), the Rams’ Torry Holt and Adam Archuleta (Week 6), the Bengals’ Chad Johnson, Deltha O’Neal and Tory James (Week 7), the Jets’ Curtis Martin (Week 8), the Colts’ Peyton Manning and Edgerrin James (Week 9), the Eagles’ Donovan McNabb and Terrell Owens (Week 10), and the Patriots’ Tom Brady (Week 11), the Packers’ Brett Favre (Week 12), and the Cowboys’ Julius Jones (Week 13), and the Chiefs” Larry Johnson and the Titans’ Drew Bennett (Week 14), the Dolphins’ Jason Taylor and Sammy Knight (Week 15), and the Rams’ Steven Jackson (Week 16).
