There will be no intrigue this week regarding Steven Jackson’s availability for Sunday’s game against the Bears. Jackson already has been ruled out, meaning that the strained thigh muscle that originally was thought to be a one- or two-day injury is extending toward six weeks.
Jackson was injured in the fourth quarter Oct. 19 against the Cowboys. He reaggravated the injury two weeks later when he tried to come back vs. the Cardinals, and has been sidelined since then.
Jackson saw a specialist late last week. “They feel that he should be out this week, rest him,” coach Jim Haslett said. “We’ll see what happens next week.” The injury was rediagnosed as a strain. “It’s just going to take some time to heal,” Haslett said.
Elsewhere on the injury front:
*LT Orlando Pace will miss two to four weeks a knee ligament injury.
*CB Ron Bartell is day-to-day with a soft-tissue injury to his knee.
*RB Kenneth Darby has a slight strain of his ribs.
*LB Chris Draft (foot) will be out two to three more weeks.
*DT La’Roi Glover has torn cartilage in his knee, originally suffered a couple of weeks ago, but should be able to play.
*CB Tye Hill (knee) will resume jogging this week.
*G Richie Incognito (shoulder) was scheduled for an MRI exam later Monday.
*DE Eric Moore (neck) will return to practice this week.

Notes & quotes:
*After a discussion with his coaching staff Monday, Haslett has decided to stick with Marc Bulger at QB.
*If Incognito is out Sunday, rookie John Greco will start at RG . . . if Greco’s left knee is OK. His kneecap popped out of place briefly in practice Friday.
*Adam Goldberg will step in for Pace at LT.
All for now . . .

Re: Jackson ruled out for Sunday's game, other injury updates
I stubbed my pinky toe and re-broke the darn thing. I will be out this week also.
It is reported that I may miss several games, (As they do not allow big Homer Simpson slippers on the field.)
I will be evaluated by the staff docs, do a routine Pet scan to make sure this pinky toe has not been buddy taped to tight.
All for now.
I will have my under paid agent keep the Rams Fans updated,(After she can find her calender).

Why is Jackson already ruled out? Is there really no shot of him being healthy before Sunday?
At least our RBs looked good, Pittman and Darby. Now common team, let's see if we can stay in this one enough were we can run the ball and not have to pass all the time to catch up.

So Bartell won't need surgery? I'm not sure.

Re: Jackson ruled out for Sunday's game, other injury updates
There is no reason to be loyal to the veterans with them playing as they are. Haslett should put in and try any and all players on the team that could provide a spark for the other players. The team looks so down. Some youth and excitement about being on the field could bring some attitude.
I guess the question is, do we have any hidden talent on the team that is not being used. This would be a great time to try out other players.
Haslett must feel that Buger is the best option at QB right now. It kinda sucks to see Gus Ferrotte out there playing for the Vikings now and doing pretty well.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

Frerotte's passer rating this season is only four points better than Bulger's, and he has the NFL's rushing leader in his backfield to help take some pressure off of him. We saw what he did here on our team, and it wasn't pretty.
I agree though that this would be a nice time to try out some younger players. I wouldn't mind seeing what Greco can do at RG, for instance.

Re: Jackson ruled out for Sunday's game, other injury updates
I'm really excited to see what Greco can bring to our squad. We finally get to see some action out of him. Who knows, he may just steal the job from Cogs!!!
Jackson being hurt does tie back to him not being here for preseason.
However, I'm starting to believe that it is conditioning and bad luck that keeps biting us in the tail. That's quite a long list of injuries.
I'm glad the Haz is sticking to Bulger. We don't have any better options at QB. Just stick with the one who gives us a shot to win. If that is Bulger, then he should be starting. Green doesn't do much better and why waste time on Berlin? He was terrible last season...
