Good news (in the making). JL is such a presence in our D now and during the football regular season.

    The official word:

    STLouisRams St. Louis Rams
LB James Laurinaitis has what's being called a "strained" pectoral muscle. He's day to day and it's not anything serious per Spagnuolo.

bold prediction. If he stays healthy and we can get solid defensive tackles in front of him, he will be the best middle linebacker in the history of the team. Yes, even better than london fletcher because he will be a lot better in pass coverage.

Leber's going to be that OLB that is used in passing situations that will fix that gaping hole that somehow makes the scrubs on QB look like Philip Rivers when going deep.

was worried about this. So glad he's healthy. Now we have 4 or 5 very solid lbs. Can't believe the depth this team has compared to the Haslett days. We have JLau, Vobora, Poppinga, Diles, Leber and Diggs at linebacker. That's a very solid group. We now have good depth on the oline, dline, lb, corners, wide receivers and tes. Of course none of this would matter if Sam got injured.

Mc232003, You were worried? Just kidding.

JL's injury was a big question mark alright though. Considered by some as a legit scare.

Just saw this report this evening in SB Nation / Turf Show Times:

Bullet Dodged - Laurinaitis Injury Not Serious
By VTramsFan on Aug 10, 2011 7:11 PM CDT in 2011 NFL offseason

We've all been on the edge of our seats regarding Animal Jr. and his pectoral injury, however Spagnuolo gave official word today at his presser that it is just a strain and nothing serious.

The injury is labeled as day to day, and although there was no mention of the x-ray results, apparently they came out negative.. only speculating. Also, it's interesting to note that an X-ray would only show bone related injuries, not soft tissue (thanks coach connors.. good point!).

At any rate, with it being day to day, I would bet the farm that he will NOT be rushed back into action. He's also listed as questionable in Saturday's preseason game against the Colts...

Hopefully JL will just get rested up for the first two preseason games, then see limited action in the final two... perhaps maybe just the fourth just to be safe. Injuries like this can flare back up if not healed fully.

...Kiss your dog, or whatever it is you do in moments like this. In my case. I'll kiss my dog whose name happens to be Bradford.

Great news, the Rams D will need to be at its strongest, especially in the first half schedule.

I have to agree with that, some of JL's play in pass coverage last year was frankly awesome. If you combine that with the fact that he made so many stops behind the LOS in the run game, and also got in on some sacks and picks, you have the making of a great MLB

Re: James Laurnitus Twitter Update - UPDATED AGAIN!

great news that the leader of the pack will be good to go soon enough and not miss any regular season games through this.

he`s only gonna get better as we keep improving the cast around him, especially the D-line and Safety positions. very smart young man, pretty much every intangible that Sam has,James has too.

is there anyone in the Ram Nation who still wishes we had drafted Rey instead now?
