Thumbs up Jamie Martin for QB

Jacksonville have cut Jamie Martin, look for him to be signed by the Rams to be the No2

wasn't jamie martin in nfl europe way back. I also recall him looking pretty useful when he subbed for Brunel at Jacksonville.

Martin also was on the Rams roster from 1993 to 96

I always liked this guy, he could be a good fit for us.

Martin was with the Admirals back in 95 or maybe 96, he did a decent job , maybe not a Warner class but I remember him as a Rams allocate there.

"Oh what a tangled web we weave...." actually, I can remember Martin in NFL Europe. Pretty good arm. He is 31, and by no means a savior, but if Martz is comfortable, that makes me feel better. Our record wasn't real good with Green in there last year either. Not to say it was Green's fault, I am just saying that maybe the WR's are so used to Warner, that it will be tough for anyone to be 2nd. Germaine didn't have a great pre-season, but I could see where his personality may clash with Martz. Germaine gives me the impression of everything is neither too high or low, which I don't like in a QB. I like some spit and vinegar in them. They have to be the guy in the huddle that points their finger at someone and say "You're fault." (pc version). I don't think Germaine had the "stuff" to say that to Ike or Holt. Martin may.

But seriously, as I posted elsewhere, I rate Jamie and would go as far as saying I am glad he is our backup, maybe no trent green, but a good backup none the less. Hopefully he wont be needed though!

    Thumbs up

Hopefully he won't be needed but equally I'm more comfortable with Martin back there. Like Txram I can remember being impressed with his time at Amsterdam and maybe he just hasn't been in the right system at the right time to show what he can do.

I don't expect him to produce Warner like numbers but equally he won't implode and leave the offense leaderless

If we have to use either, we are in trouble. We should have called in Beurlein or someone like that if we were really troubled with our backup situation. The O line has really got to step up and protect Warner's Q all year. That means establishing a running game. My one knock on Martz is that maybe he gives up on the ground game too early or simply ignores it totally. We really don't have that Eddie George type of back, so maybe it is smart to abandon the run early if it isn't there and try to come back to it late like we normally do. Not sure, but I do know it is important to Kurt's health for the D line to anticipate a run.

Ahem, how many rushing yards did Faulk have last year ??

I think the thing is, Martz will pass if the other team keys on the run, simple as that. remember the game when the rams passed ... what 20 times before they ran the ball. Our team , as you say has no power back, therefore we play to our strong points. Its pretty simple to me

Whats going to happen to Germaine and Bulger should this happen? Will we put Martin as our #2 starter and Bulger as #3 and just cut Germaine? Whats the latest?
