Janoris Jenkins to be checked up on every day
I saw this and thought it was a great idea. I don't know if you can babysit a "grown" man but at least this might help out alittle bit. I wonder if this is what they tried to do with pacman?

I still say they should make him move in with Aeneas Williams. If not Aeneas, then Bruce or Ray Agnew.
Are there any other ordained ministers at Rams Park?"Before the gates of excellence the high gods have placed sweat; long is the road thereto and rough and steep at first; but when the heights are reached, then there is ease, though grievously hard in the winning." --- Hesiod

Re: Janoris Jenkins to be checked up on every day
I really hope this works out, but the fact that the Rams feel the need to check up on a guy every day to keep him out of trouble, worries me. Didn't they investigate and interview him, then determin that he wasn't an unreasonable risk? You can only do so much to try and influence behavior. At some point, and soon, Jenkins has to get his act together and be trusted to act like a responsible citizen.
Hopefully, this is just a short-term policy that pays off.

Re: Janoris Jenkins to be checked up on every day
Hopefully it doesn't backfire and he doesn't begin to resent the Rams for treating him like a parolee.
I don't know exactly what trouble he's been in, but I do know that people who aren't criminals hate to be treated as such.

Re: Janoris Jenkins to be checked up on every day
I've defended the Jenkins pick quite a bit, but this is a bit silly. If they trusted him well enough to draft him, then they should trust him well enough to not have to call him everyday. But I guess not. Hopefully they don't have to keep doing this.

Re: Janoris Jenkins to be checked up on every day
Guys, they are about to invest a $4m contract into Jenkins. Why not get him to have a chat every night? They are looking out for the guy, not tagging him and putting him under house arrest
Think of it this way. Would it have been silly for the San Diego Chargers to pay for Vincent Jackson to have a driver to prevent him drink driving?

Re: Janoris Jenkins to be checked up on every day
This is going a bit overboard with calling him and monitoring everyday. Its like being babysat, I wouldn't like it so he won't like it.

Re: Janoris Jenkins to be checked up on every day
A. He's being treated like a parolee, because he is a parolee.
B. He and his agent agreed to all of this. A report came out (I think it was the Silver article) that Fisher/Snead spoke with his agent prior to the pick and laid out the stipulations. His side agreed to all of it."Before the gates of excellence the high gods have placed sweat; long is the road thereto and rough and steep at first; but when the heights are reached, then there is ease, though grievously hard in the winning." --- Hesiod

Re: Janoris Jenkins to be checked up on every day
I get that they agreed to monitoring, but I do question how effective daily calls from Rams officials would really be. Maybe they could just set up an automated service that would send him random messages like:
"Hey, Janoris, have you considered not getting her knocked up this time?"
"Hey, Janoris, are you high?"
"Hey, Janoris, random drug test time! Nah, dude, we're just playing, but don't do drugs."
"Hey, Janoris, I saw your segment on Cops. Don't tase me, bro! Lol!"
"Hey, Janoris, it's 3 am. I must be lonely..."
Man, that will never get old!

Re: Janoris Jenkins to be checked up on every day
Who cares whether Jenkins "likes" this approach or is offended by being treated like a "felon"? He made his bed and now must lie in it.
You reap what you sew. This is what you sign on for when rolling the dice on a guy with a checkered past. And while it's absolutely pathetic that a grown man has to be checked on and babysat, it's exactly what a team must do to protect its investment. Hopefully Jenkins gets it and becomes a productive player for us. To those who defended the pick, understand this is a part of the package. It may or may not work.

I'm a little bit concerned about the Rams choice of guidance counselor:
