Jay Williams Returns to the Rams

    From Post-Dispatch

The Rams brought back another Williams and another veteran from their 1999 Super Bowl championship season on Wednesday.

Free agent defensive end Jay Williams, who spent the first seven seasons of his career with the Rams, has re-signed with the team.

Williams signed a three-year, $2.65 million deal, which included a $300,000 signing bonus. Earlier this month, the Rams signed free-agent tight end Roland Williams, another member of the squad that defeated Tennessee in Super Bowl XXXIV.

On the cap side, the signing bonus will count 100k per year. What about the breakdowns so we know how much he will count this year.

As long as we are collecting guys named williams, i hope aeneas will come back for the minimum, we could use both the depth and the leadership.

Seems to rule out DE in 1st round

with the Little trial several mocks and a few on this board have mentioned DE's like Pollack as potential Rams draftees. With this move it seems to indicate that the Rams are not going to go DE early even if the trial goes badly. At 33 not sure how much Williams has left, I just hope he can play the run.

Ramhard, 33 is often the age at which some players give it there all, their professional way to prove their name to the team as well as to themselves in the twilight of their career -- "the performance before the curtain comes down" season.

But you're right, I too hope this Williams can play the run tough! :angryram:

    Roger that, CG. Absolutely!

Now, will Grant Williams be around this year for vindication?

I think this is more of a special teams move than anything, although he'll provide solid depth off the bench.

    What's Keith Lyle doing nowadays?

Did you guys realize this guy was an LA Ram?

Apparently he didn't see any playing time in LA.
