Actually, for the record, meador started out as a corner and moved to safety in the mid 60's. His first five or six years he was a terrific corner. I acknowledge that he had great years as a safety as well, many pro bowl appearances.

No biggie, just two bighorn rams sparring a little to practice for the real deal.

I'm not sure which is more funny, this, or the reactions.

Better than Aeneas Williams? That would be saying something.

Better than Aeneas, maybe not Aeneas in his prime, but Aeneas on the Rams.

Jenkins' and Amendola get into a scuffle-jenkinsdanny-11-650x390.jpg

Early in practice during one on one work, rookie cornerback Janoris Jenkins and veteran wideout Danny Amendola got into an intense altercation. Jenkins ended up without his helmet and Amendola appeared close to throwing a punch before head coach Jeff Fisher said “that’s enough Danny, that’s enough.”

Later in the session, the two again got tangled up. This particular skirmish ended with each player sharing some very intense words for the other.

Interestingly, Amendola went on to have a huge day thereafter and made several receptions when matched up with Jenkins during the remainder of the session.

That would still be saying something, as Williams made the pro bowl twice in his four years with the Rams.

No, he wasn't! He's the lead singer for Pearl Jam.

    No wait, that's Eddie Vedder.

    Back on topic...

As one of the few people at practice on tuesday, I had a good view and listen to the two incidents. The first one looked pretty normal. Two heated guys going at it after a play. The second time, about 15 minutes later, was worse. Amendola DID throw a punch (of course Jenkins face mask probably hit his hand back even harder). The words that ensued were not kind to say the least and did not follow suit with whom I thought Amendola was. And in this instance, Jenkins obviously did not want to have an incident - a very good sign. I hope the bad blood was only for a day.

Care to give us an indication as to what was said?

I doubt there will be any lasting bad blood.

Could this be bad for the locker room? There needs to be team bonding!

I can not post what was said or it would consist of: ***** and ***** then *****. There didn't seem to be any depth to the words, just a lot of well... "I will **** you up kid" talk from Amendola. I wanted to point out that Amendola tried to get the fight to blows but Jenkins would not hit him and did not say much other than a taunt here or there.

Nah, letting of a little steam is good for bonding.

At least I've really never seen it any other way playing hockey

Re: Jenkins' and Amendola get into a scuffle

Thankfully, Fisher stepped in and settled the guys down. I was able to obtain a tape of Fisher's impromptu speech and, after a couple of days of deciphering its contents, I am now able to post a transcript of his words:

Cut it out! Cut it out! Cut it out! The hell's the matter with you? Stupid! We're all very different people. We're not Watusi. We're not Spartans. We're Rams, with a capital “R”! You know what that means? Do ya? That means that we come from the legacy of the Fearsome Foursome and the Greatest Show on Turf! Today, we're the underdog. We're mutts! Here's proof: his nose is cold! But there's no animal that's more faithful, that's more loyal, more loveable than the mutt.

Who saw "Old Yeller?" Who cried when Old Yeller got shot at the end? Nobody cried when Old Yeller got shot? I'm sure. I cried my eyes out. So we're all dogfaces, we're all very, very different, but there is one thing that we all have in common: we were all drafted or signed to play or coach in for a team that hasn’t won a lot lately. We’re upstarts. There's something wrong with us, something very, very wrong with us. Something seriously wrong with us -we're upstarts. But we're Ram upstarts! We've been kicking ass for one week! We're 1 and 1! Now we don't have to worry about whether or not we won a lot of games last year. We don't have to worry about whether Bernie Miklasz wants to have us hung. All we have to do is to be the great St. Louis fighting Ram that is inside each one of us.

Now do what I do, and say what I say. And make me proud!

I guess Fisher is saying these guys are now earning their stripes.
