    Joe Thiesman is smoking Crack

Of all the people to name as candidates for the Ram's new coach. At the end of the game, Theisman said the Rams might hire Tim Lewis DEF COORD NYG and he named a couple other candidates.

TIM LEWIS WAS FIRED IN 2004 by the Steelers and the DEFENSE IMPROVED big-time after his departure. Why in the HELL would we want a guy FIRED as DEF COORD as recently as 2004 to be our HEAD COACH!!!

    These people kill me.

    No way, Jerry Gray.

    Check out this link:
    http://www.nfl.com/stats/teamsort/NF...1=9&_1:col_2=4

Jerry's Gray's DEFENSE is DEAD last in allowing the opposition to convert on 3rd down, and that's a Big Stat in the NFL. That's always an area you hear coaches concerned about. So, he's failing as a DEF coordinator at this point.. We're not even talking the promotion.

Lews won't get it, but the Giants players have been just as positive about him as the Redskins players have been about Williams. As for Gray he's burdened with an offense that can't stay on the field, so his 3rd down stats will suffer, particularly if he feels he has to take risks to get his unit off the field.
Anyway, whichever coach we get will have been canned at some point in his career, Williams was canned only a couple of years earlier by the Bills. What we have to hope is that whoever we get that they've learned from the experience.

I have said the same thing many times this year. Also Gray lost Takeo Spikes an All Pro linebacker for the season, and Clements and McGee were injured off and on this season also, so you can't just look at the stats and assume Gray sucks all of a sudden.

I'm not saying he SUCKS, but you take the CREAM OF the CROP .. The absolute best.

I would've thought we seen enough of Larry Marmie that was brought in (not even promoted) without success in his previous position.

Jerry Gray's DEF has allowed more rushing yards the MARMIE's DEFENSE this year. And we've been run all over.

That's just crazy. The idea is to get the BEST candidate.
Instead we'll take #32 (in a league of 32 teams) and say his team had injuries. That's EXACTLY what happened with Marmie. We were told he was great, but he was saddled with poor talent.

    Fat Pang,

Your comments on Lewis, that everyone's been fired would make more sense if the Steelers hadn't improved on D after canning him with essentially the same personnel.

Again I say he lost his All Pro Linebacker plus a host of other injuries. You can't just go by his stats from this year and dismiss him as a top candidate.

There is a reason he's being mentioned as a Head Caoching candidate and it's because he did a great job with the D in Buf before this season. Theres more to it then just the stats of one season.

Re: Joe Thiesman is smoking Crack

Hard to deny, and I'm not comparing him to Marmie as I think Lewis has got a better track record ,but the steelers had other trouble that year I believe, like an offense that abandoned the run and threw all over the place.

I do firmly believe that you take the best candidate but that candidate will have likely have failed elsewhere such as Williams, what I'm looking for is someone who demonstrates that evidence that they've learned from their mistakes.

Marmie obviously hasn't, Lewis obviously has and Williams obviously has.

Williams is a good candidate I think Lewis is too but it's too soon for him.

I also think Gray is regardless of how he's suffered this year.

Look at Lovie, how many times was he criticised for what happened on that last drive against the pats or what happened against Carolina? Now look at him, Coach of the year?
