John Shaw picked Spagnolo???
According to pft Devaney was hell bent on Garrett being the go to guy but due to him (Garrett) being delerious with his salary demands Shaw turned the table on Billy D in Spags favor.
Is shaw still a behind the scenes puppet master?
I dont know about you folks but this sends up major RED flags knowing when push comes to shove Shaw is still getting the last word.
Remember price was no object and billy d has the last word no matter what, or was this all a big smoke screen?
As all of you, I too would have been majorly pissed off if he was chosen, BUT...Billy D's authority is now being challenged by John friggin Shaw.
All I am saying is I am FURIOUS just thinking it has any merit!!!!!

Re: John F****** Shaw picked Spagnolo???
I said it weeks ago. John Shaw is still in Chip's ear and always will be.
I would have been pissed if Garrett was chosen, but Shaw shouldn't be making these decisions. He was supposed to be gone, yet here he is again throwing his weight around.

Re: John F****** Shaw picked Spagnolo???
Sorry my blood is still boiling but one last point.
If in fact PFT has any merit which is debatable than just think about the draft and FA.
You all know as well as I do that Shaw and o'l Zygmut set or beloved
's back 3-4 years (being extremely optimistic) with there draft debacles and FA fumbling.
Dont even get me started on our fb that got cut fiasco.
The point is if he is still medaling then we are still in for some rough timesLast edited by RAMPAGE!; -01-19-2009 at 10:40 AM.

Re: John F****** Shaw picked Spagnolo???
Your right I have to think happy thoughts here because Spags was my guy from the very start and I am overjoyed that we scooped him up. Regardless of how he got there, it's with a grain of salt I say this.
It's like being beaten by an evil stepfather (J Shaw) for years and when you finally think he is gone you find out he is your neighbor
I just want the very best for our boys and I know we TRULY need to begin with a clean slateLast edited by RAMPAGE!; -01-19-2009 at 10:01 AM.

I understand. A lot of people will sleep better at night when Shaw is 100% gone and not just a consultant/meddler or whatever he is.

Re: John Shaw picked Spagnolo???
As far as John Shaw picking Spags...I don't know...
Considering Devaney's history with Spagnuolo, you gotta assume he was behind picking Spags, and not Shaw. It doesn't really make sense especially if Devaney didn't want him, and yet Spags and Billy are so close, and they trust eachother, all that stuff wouldn't make sense if Devaney didn't have faith in him and wanted him to be the coach the whole time...

Re: John Shaw picked Spagnolo???
Oy.
Let's review one more time.
PFT is not reliable! They once reported that Terry Bradshaw was DEAD!!!!
Their report consists of a couple of sentences (with no source cited whatsoever) starting with the words "as we understand it..."
Let's be clear: THEY DON'T KNOW ANYTHING!!!
If you want to get your panties in a wad nonetheless, be my guest.
Bottom line is that Spagnuolo WAS HIRED and Devaney, who is good friends with Spagnuolo, clearly favored the decision.

Re: John Shaw picked Spagnolo???
Amen.
Coming from ProFootballTalk:
As we understand it, G.M. Billy Devaney wanted Cowboys offensive coordinator Jason Garrett. But, as we suggested last night, Garrett’s salary expectations allowed John Shaw to tilt the process toward Spagnuolo, who was Shaw’s first choice.
What a bunch of BOLOGNA.

Re: John Shaw picked Spagnolo???
So we passed on the NFL's highest-paid offensive coordinator because his contract demands were too high, and instead signed the NFL's highest-paid defensive coordinator? I'd probably wait until there is some kind of verification from somewhere else before believing this is how it went down. This sounds like the kind of thing someone might come up with to explain why Garrett was in town for that second interview.

Re: John Shaw picked Spagnolo???
Remember, if everything on the internet is to be believed, then Torry Holt was about to be traded for Chad Johnson last Summer, and Marshall Faulk would be suing the makers of the movie We Are Marshall for stealing the name of his autobiography focusing on his battle with multiple-personality disorder.
(Now who started those rumors?)
