Johnson comments on the brilliant play of the Rams defense

Chiefs | L. Johnson disappointed with Week 9 performance
    Sun, 5 Nov 2006 19:51:55 -0800

The Associated Press reports Kansas City Chiefs RB Larry Johnson was disappointed with his performance during the Week 9 game against the St. Louis Rams. Johnson carried the ball 27 times, but he managed just 172 yards rushing with one touchdown. "I'm a little disappointed because I feel we did leave 200 yards of rushing on that field. The way we were going out there and just pushing them backward and shakings things up, we should have done even more," said Johnson.

27 carries for 172, 6.37 yard average per carry and this guy is disappointed?

    Give me a break!

I appreciate comments like this. Mr. Johnson was honest. He didn't hide his contempt of our D with platitudes or euphemisms, he just told it like he really felt.

No, he's not my friend. L.J. is just saying what everyone on this board, and in the league for that matter, knows full well. The truth may be unpleasant; but it's the truth nonetheless. ( I was fully expecting Michael Bennett to break one also.)
And all of this carnage AFTER their ProBowl guard-Waters- goes down.
    WHAT SAY YE?

Yes, we must face it...our defense stinks. Like John Kerry said, "If you work out with the team and practice hard, you can become a great player, if you don't you end up stuck on the Ram's defense."

What are your thoughts on the reasons for the Rams' defensive struggles?

We cant stop a kid from running down the field.

We had 50 tackle vs 74 tackle, while two of the tackel was from the offense i believe by the fumble.

Btw i didnt watch the game i donno if we are out of position or just mis tackle.

I realize that our defense can have the strength of cheese cloth, but I stand by my statement that LJ came off like an ass. That's my opinion. Sometimes you just have to know when to shut up.

As far as the problems that our defense has and ways to fix it. You've got me. But, I'd have to say it is partially due to scheme. I mean, we play okay run-defense except for those few huge plays. That tells me there is a problem with the plans (peronnel too, but I think this is a scheming thing).

Maybe Haslett is covering up personnel short comings with some really elaborate defensive game planning. But those fancy things are leaving empty spots that can be gashed by the occasional huge run.

On second thought, maybe the scheme problems are due to the personnel shortcomings!

A reporter asked him about the performance... what was he supposed to say?
He's never happy with the yards he gets, he's contantly trying to outdo himself.

    Lighten up people.

In all honesty, I wish every NFL running back that shreds this defense like that would tell it like it is. The players need to hear how pathetic they are playing and how much of a joke it is getting to be. All the Ram defenders need to take note that their play is that of High Schoolers.

Okay, so he's constantly trying to outdo himself, great. But to say that they left 200 yards of rushing on the field? Please. Are we to believe he thinks he should have finished with 372 yards? Maybe we need to lighten up, but Larry needs to get back to reality and be a bit more serious don't you think?? No offense, but his statement is laughable.

I didn't see anything that made me think it would be impossible.

How about being 200 yards short? Again, laughable, regardless of how poor the Ram defense is.
