Re: KFFL: Lassiter released, McGroty promoted, Fisher starting?

Does anyone else wanna see Brandon Chillar at middle linebacker?

I don't want to go through the torture of seeing Mike Furrey return kicks again. If Arlen Harris can't go, throw in Shaun McDonald, Kevin Curtis, or DeJuan Groce (since Fisher is coming back). Our backups have the potential to be great returners. The problem in the past with fumbles hasn't been our kick returner (rather, the punt returner, which McDonald has filled). We need to stop wasting time with the "conservative" Arlen Harris back there and throw in a turf burner. Fast and furious.

Interesting that we are releasing a safety, who granted was terrible, and not promoting shivers. I guess he is still in the doghouse. As for mcgorty, i guess he is the backup fullback this week and will play special teams. Lets pray for the good health of Joey the G.

Even more interesting, I think, is that the team cut Kwame Lassiter (who was playing) instead of Jason Shivers (who's been a disappointment). It shows that they at least see some kind of future for Shivers.

I think Shivers is on their practice squad, not the active roster.

True nick, but they could have cut lassiter and activated shivers. I think it is a sign that they still believe shivers has a pulse, but is not ready to play. I am hoping that this is the same view with garrett, that we dont cut him loose.

Wasn't Gross a kick and punt return specialest? I think Mc Donald and Curtis should be returning kicks.

Humm, have two of your faster guys on returns? What a marvolous idea!

Getting kicks from Rams Special Teams

EDMan is right: we need speedsters to return kicks and McDonald and Groce are probably two of our fastest '40' runners with experience.

Would love to see a Special Teams surprise Vs. Miami (a positive one)!

They probably promoted McGroty because of Harris's injury, but I agree - they obviously think Shivers has some kind of potential or else they wouldn't have signed him to the PS. I just hope he's shown enough and can progress enough to eventually take over for Aeneas.

That is correct. Groce was a punt return specialist for Nebraska. I say lets get him returning kicks some where.
