    King out for the season....

MEQUON, Wis. (AP)—St. Louis Rams cornerback Justin King’s rookie season is over before it started after he tore a ligament in his left big toe in Saturday night’s preseason opener against Tennessee.

The injury will require season-ending surgery.

“He said it was just a fluke deal and said he got it trapped under a guy’s foot or stepped funny and rolled over it,” coach Scott Linehan said.

King will be placed on injured reserve. The fourth-round draft choice from Penn State had made a strong early impression in camp and was working as the team’s third cornerback against Tennessee.

Thought to be more of a raw prospect than an instant contributor, King proved to be more ready for game action than originally thought. He was playing regularly in the team’s nickel package against the Titans before coming out with about 2 minutes left in the first quarter.

“It’s a weird kind of deal,” Linehan said. “I feel bad for him because he worked really hard and was really going to push for a lot of playing time.”

Dang...I really had high hopes for him!

Too bad for King, its been tough for the Rams draftees. 1st Avery with the pelvis injury, now King, and then Chris Long was MIA last night!

LET IT BE ... THE ONLY SEASON ENDING INJURY!

Too bad for Justin, this rookie really was looking forward to playing time with the pros this year. So was I. // Thanks CJ for the early news.

That does hurt. I didn't want the Rams to draft King, as I thought Red Bryant would have been ideal in the 4th.

It's too bad he won't contribute at all, especially since he seemed to be progressing well.

Will Witherspoon (shoulder), Oshiomogho Atogwe (hamstring), Donnie Avery (broken pelvic bone), offensive tackle Julius Wilson (calf), tight end Anthony Becht (hamstring), cornerback Fakhir Brown (shoulder) and defensive end Victor Adeyanju (broken finger)

Why cant this team stay healthy??

Lets not worry too much about this though. Just think of it as he went back to school for his senior season and would spend all that time studying on our playbook!

Geez, now back to Jonathan Wade, who after playing a season in the NFL, was apparently less ready than King was...

major bummer... I had high hopes for him, he was probably my second favorite rookie behind Long... hopefully this doesn't stunt his development too much. Whats with these weird season ending big toe injuries last year Leonard Little this year King.

There's something screwy with these injuries man, seriously. Second season in a row now with big injuries? There's just something wrong going on with this team. I don't think its stupid fate/karma/whatever, I think its got to be something with how they're practicing or something.

Always and Forever a fan of the St. Louis Rams

How can you practive/train to prevent a torn toe ligament? You can't. We have had a string of horrible luck with this many severe freak injuries. I know it's frustrating, but to blame it on conditioning or practice methods is rediculous.

Where did the Rams go wrong?.. Constantly racking up injuries!.. damnit.. Anyone know how good our training staff really is? Maybe they're whom to blame for this madness!

I like 'Chippers' idea. Go back and finish your education King. I had hopes for King to take control of the nickel back spot...guess that won't happen.
