Knee injury delays first-round pick Quinn

By BILL COATS | Posted: Sunday, July 31, 2011 2:44 pm

Defensive end Robert Quinn, the St. Louis Rams' first-round draft pick, was on the practice field today. But his work was limited to conditioning drills with head trainer Reggie Scott.

Quinn showed up Saturday at Rams Park with an injury to his right knee. He did it a couple of months ago while working out.

So, Quinn starts his first NFL training camp on the non-football injury (NFI) list.

"The knee is fine," Quinn said. "Just a little tweak."

Coach Steve Spagnuolo referred to it as a sprain and said Quinn could be full-go soon. "We could do it in a day, two days, three days," Spagnuolo said. "Reggie's going to take it day by day and assess it."

Lets hope this does not drag on...

He got the chills one cool morning and sneezed. That's all.

He got the chills from seeing how good our defensive line will be. Or maybe pulled a gramatica pulling it while celebrating about it

So the injury happened a few months ago, is still an issue, but he could be a full go soon and the knee is fine?? But..... it's enough to put him on the non-football injury list and limit him in practice. Ugh! I hope my worries are unfounded.

Hope you're right. I'm still going to worry though.

I don't know that I'd classify an injury as a little tweak if it's still not healed after a couple of months.

That's exactly what worries me Nick.

Oh.... NOW I remember why I hate camp reports.

When he's unable to play a regular season game, I'll worry. Until then...

The problem is. He doesn't practice because of this injury, he doesn't play.

Whenever the first round draft pick has an injury for weeks (months?) and this is the first it's been mentioned, it's something to worry about. He's missing valuable practice time, and with the abreviated training camp, that's never a good thing.

That's a good point, but I'm a worrier by nature, so I'll do just that untill he does actually play a regular season game.

I hate that this guy hasn't been on the field in going on 2 years.

Really like him as a pick, but will start feeling worse every day he's not practicing.

Agreed that the explanation of everything is a bending of facts.

We aren't "deep" at any position on the D-line without him. My count is 2 starter quality DE's, 1.5 starting DT's and some rotational guys,

By my count, he's missed one day of practice.
