LB Diggs to join Rams-RUMOR
Veteran free agent linebacker Na’il Diggs is on the verge of signing a two-year contract with the St. Louis Rams, according to an NFL source with knowledge of the situation.
Diggs is a former Green Bay Packers fourth-round draft pick who played at Ohio State.
He spent last season with the Carolina Panthers.
The 6-foot-4, 240-pounder played weakside linebacker for the Panthers, starting 10 games and playing in all but one of 16 games.
Last season, he recorded 68 tackles with one forced fumble and one pass deflection.
For his career, Diggs has registered 566 tackles, 11 1/2 sacks, five interceptions and three forced fumbles.

He is aging a bit but I think he'd be a good addition to the olb's
Re: LB Diggs to join Rams-RUMOR
Just like any other veteran signing, I'm cool with this IF... the price is reasonable and we are looking to him for temporary help, not a solution. My overall gut feeling is... meh.

What was the point of waiving chris draft if we are going to sign a guy like this, who is not at this point as good a player as draft was a year ago.

maybe they dont agree with your evaluation of the two players..i`d say they about the same quality but Diggs appears to be a better fit for our system...he`s certainly a fair few inches & lbs bigger and possibly cheaper...they apparently tried to get Draft to re-do his contract and when he refused that is when he was cut.
its worth pointing out also that Flajole has been the position coach for both Draft & Diggs in the last 2 years so its fair to say he will know better than anyone who is a better fit for the D spags wants him to run.
Re: LB Diggs to join Rams-RUMOR
THats a very fair point Ramblin Ram. I will point out that in the season before draft was cut he had over 100 tackles and the pay cut that they wanted him to take was about 200k, so its not like anyone saved any significant money. My point is really that neither of them are young players likely to improve at this point in their careers and Draft was not expensive like witherspoon. Your explanation is most likely the correct one and i am glad you made the point regarding coaches view on what fits best in the scheme.

I think it's safe to say that he will be a likely upgrade at whichever position he takes for our defense, and that's all we can really ask from him at this point in his career.
