Left guard Rokevious Watkins missed Wednesday's practice with an ankle injury
BY JIM THOMAS
1
The injury woes on the offensive line continue to mount for the Rams. Left guard Rokevious Watkins missed Wednesday's practice with an ankle injury and his status is uncertain for Sunday's home opener against Washington. Watkins has been using crutches.
If Watkins is unable to go Sunday, the Rams options are either newly re-signed Quinn Ojinnaka or Shelley Smith, a waiver pickup from Houston less than two weeks ago.
Meanwhile, there was a surprise appearance on the practice field Wednesday. Left tackle Rodger Saffold, who spent part of Sunday night in a Detroit hospital with a neck injury, took part in practice on a limited basis.
Nonetheless, it's highly unlikely Saffold will play Sunday, meaning the start at left tackle would go to Wayne Hunter.
Robert Turner will start at center in place of Scott Wells, who will miss about half the season with a fractured foot.

Sweet. Let's see if we can get as many OL on the IR as we had CBs last year.

Just part of the game... the Skins have one player that may miss the game and or not be full speed.
One to keep an eye on this week for sure.Wide receiver Pierre Garcon did not participate in the Washington Redskins’ practice Wednesday. “We’ll wait and see how he is tomorrow,” coach Mike Shanahan said.
Garcon suffered a foot injury on his 88-yard touchdown catch-and-run during Sunday’s season-opening triumph at New Orleans.
He initially predicted he would be able to play this weekend at St. Louis.
Garcon declined to discuss his playing status in detail as he walked off the practice field Wednesday

Wow, Bradford's life is in the hands of rookies, guys pulled off their couches, other teams castoffs, and someone named Shelley Smith? I'm hoping for the best, but I must admit that some of these guys did a fair job in the 4th quarter against Detroit.
Hearing that Saffold is practicing, albeit limited, is GREAT news.

Time to welcome Quinn Ojinnaka back to the starting line-up.
My reaction:

Country Roads, Take Them To St. Louis!

You know, for awhile I've scoffed at this, but I'm beginning to believe it to be true...we are cursed. Bring back Todd Hewitt. Do something to lift it.

I believe the "curse" started when Kurt Warner was dumped for 'spending too much time in the Bible, and not enoughtime in the playbook'.

The (non- existent) curse started when the showgirl took over the team.
We're now past that.

It's a contact sport, gentlemen. People get hurt.
